How Many Years of Party Membership Are Required to Be Considered for the Communist Party Badge?

In Sub-article 18.1 and Sub-article 18.2 of Article 18, Instruction 01-HD/TW 2021, regulations regarding the award of the Communist Party Badge are as follows:

Awarding the Communist Party Badge

18.1. Party members with 30, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 years of party membership are eligible for the Communist Party Badge.

Party members with severe illness are eligible for early consideration of the 30, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 years of party membership badge, but the early consideration period must not exceed 12 months compared to the prescribed time; for the 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 years of party membership badge, the early consideration period must not exceed 24 months compared to the prescribed time.

18.2. Deceased party members may be posthumously awarded the Communist Party Badge early, but the early posthumous consideration period must not exceed 12 months compared to the prescribed time.

18.3. The value of the gifts accompanying the Communist Party Badge is implemented according to the regulations of the Secretariat and the instructions of the Central Office of the Communist Party.

18.4. Awarding, using, and managing the Communist Party Badge.

- The awarding of the Communist Party Badge is promptly organized on the occasion of major holidays: February 3, May 19, September 2, November 7, and other important anniversaries by the grassroots party organization. In special cases, the provincial party committee’s standing committee will consider and decide.

- Party members use the Communist Party Badge on the holidays of the Party, national holidays, in Party congresses, conferences, and on the anniversary of their admission to the Party.

- When a party member who has been awarded the Communist Party Badge passes away, the party member's family is allowed to keep the badge as a memento.

- If a party member loses the Communist Party Badge for justifiable reasons, they are eligible to be reissued with a new badge.

- Party members who are expelled from the Communist Party must return their Communist Party Badge to the party organization.

Thus, party members with 30, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, and 90 years of party membership are eligible for the Communist Party Badge.

In cases where party members have severe illnesses, they are eligible for early consideration of the Communist Party Badge for 30, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 years of party membership, but the early consideration period must not exceed 12 months compared to the prescribed time.

They are eligible for early consideration for the 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 years of party membership badge, but the early consideration period must not exceed 24 months compared to the prescribed time.

How Many Types of Communist Party Badge Are There?

In Sub-article 27.1, Article 27, Regulation 24-QD/TW 2021, the forms of reward within the Communist Party are as follows:

For party members: Commendation, award of certificates of merit, badges, Communist Party Badge for 30 years, 40 years, 45 years, 50 years, 55 years, 60 years, 65 years, 70 years, 75 years, 80 years, 85 years, and 90 years of party membership; award of orders, medals, and other honorable titles of the Party and State.

27.2. Authority to award.

27.2.1. Cell: Commendation of party groups and party members within the cell.

27.2.2. Subdivision Party Committee: Commendation of party organizations and party members within the subdivision.

27.2.3. Basic Cell: Commendation, award of certificates of merit to party members within the cell. Basic Party Committee: Commendation, award of certificates of merit to party organizations and party members within the party committee.

27.2.4. District Party Committee (and equivalents): Award of certificates of merit to party organizations and party members within the party committee.

27.2.5. Provincial Party Committee (and equivalents): Award of certificates of merit, flags to party organizations, award of 30 years, 40 years, 45 years, 50 years, 55 years, 60 years, 65 years, 70 years, 75 years, 80 years, 85 years, 90 years of party membership badges, certificates of merit to party members within the party committee.

27.2.6. The awarding of orders, medals, and other prestigious titles to party organizations and party members is implemented according to the regulations of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the laws on emulation and reward.

Thus, there are 12 types of Communist Party Badges, including the Communist Party Badge for 30 years, 40 years, 45 years, 50 years, 55 years, 60 years, 65 years, 70 years, 75 years, 80 years, 85 years, and 90 years of party membership.
