On November 6, 2023, the Ministry of Defense issued Official Dispatch 4267/BQP-TM in 2023 on the selection and enlistment of citizens into the military in 2024.
According to Official Dispatch 4267/BQP-TM in 2023, the selection and enlistment of citizens into the military in 2024 will be carried out as follows:
Implementation of the Law on Military Service in 2015; Decision 82/QD-TTg dated October 4, 2023 of the Prime Minister on the call-up of citizens into the military in 2024; In 2024, one batch of citizens will be selected and enlisted into the military (recruitment); The time for handing over and receiving troops will be 03 days, from February 25 to February 27, 2024 (from January 16 to January 18, Giap Thin year).
Therefore, the schedule for military service in 2024 will take place in 03 days from February 25 to February 27, 2024.

What is the eligibility age for women to join military service in Vietnam?
Section 4 of Official Dispatch 4267/BQP-TM in 2023 provides regulations on the selection and enlistment of female citizens into the military in 2024 as follows:
On the selection and enlistment of female citizens into the military in 2024
In addition to the general conditions and standards as for the selection and enlistment of male citizens into the military, female citizens must have a volunteer application to serve in the military, be confirmed by a family representative and the People's Committee of the commune where they usually reside, and meet the following specific conditions and standards:
a) Age: From 18 to 25 years old; citizens who have graduated from a college or university degree will be 27 years old; unmarried, no children.
b) Health: Meet the health standards of type 1, 2 as prescribed in Circular No. 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP dated June 30, 2016 of the Ministry of Health - Ministry of Defense; in particular, the height is from 1.60m or more, the appearance is balanced, and the military uniform is fresh.
c) Technical expertise: Graduated from vocational training at the intermediate level or above; prioritize citizens who have graduated from a university or college with a training major that meets the needs of the military. In case of having talent, it is implemented according to the specific regulations of the Ministry of Defense.
d) Units assigned quotas for recruiting female citizens into the military are recruited (recruited separately) in localities throughout the country and are included in the recruitment quotas for 2024 for localities and units; coordinate and hand over to the Hanoi Capital Command (for units in the North), the Military Region 7 Command (for units in the South) for rigorous training, ensuring on time and absolute safety.

Therefore, females from the age of 18 to 25; citizens who have graduated from a college or university degree will be 27 years old, are eligible for military service. In addition, female citizens need to meet other conditions to be eligible for military service.
What are cases of postponement from conscription in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Clause 1 Article 41 of the Law on Military Service in 2015 (amended by Clause 1.c Article 49 of the Law on Militia and Self-defense Forces in 2019), these following citizens shall have conscription postponed in 2024:
- Any citizen whose health is unsatisfactory for active duty military service according to the conclusion of pre-enlistment check-up board;
- Any citizen being the sole earner who directly takes care of his/her relative who lost working capacity or under working age; any citizen being the sole earner in a family suffering serious damage to humans and properties due to dangerous accidents, disasters, epidemics certified by People’s Committees of communes;
- Any citizen who is a child of sick soldiers, people infected with dioxin and suffering labor capacity reduction from 61% to 80%;
- Any citizen whose full brother/sister is a non-commissioned officer/active duty enlisted soldier or a non-commissioned officer/enlisted soldier performing service in People’s Army;
- Any citizen who is subject to emigration or evacuation in 03 first years to extremely disadvantaged communes according to the socio-economic development project of the State that is decided by People’s Committees of provinces or higher levels;
- Any citizen who is official or youth volunteer assigned to extremely disadvantage socio-economic area according to the law provisions;
- Any citizen who is studying at compulsory education institutions or receiving training of university level at higher education institutions or training of college level at vocational education institutions for a training course of a level.
