In 2024: What is the height requirement for the Public Security entrance exam in Vietnam?
Under Clause 1, Article 4 of Circular 62/2023/TT-BCA, health standards for recruiting new citizens, selecting candidates for the People's Public Security, and transitioning to professional service for non-commissioned officers who have completed their service in the People's Public Security are stipulated as follows:
Health standards for recruiting new citizens, selecting candidates for the People's Public Security, and transitioning to professional service for non-commissioned officers who have completed their service in the People's Public Security
1. General Standards:
Citizens participating in the recruitment of new candidates for the People's Public Security, non-commissioned officers completing their service in the People's Public Security and being considered for transitioning to professional service must meet the following health standards:
a) Health condition of Type 1 or Type 2.
b) Height ranging from 1m64 to 1m95 for males, and from 1m58 to 1m80 for females, except for specific cases where height standards are reduced as specified in Clauses 2 and 3 of this Article.
c) Visual acuity without glasses of 09-10/10 for each eye, and a total visual acuity of 18/10 or above for both eyes. In the case of refractive errors: for myopia, hyperopia, each eye should not exceed 03 (three) diopters; for astigmatism, either physiological or not exceeding 01 (one) diopter for each eye; visual acuity testing with corrective lenses must achieve 09/10 for one eye and a total of 19/10 or above for both eyes (subject to compliance with visual acuity standards as stipulated if admitted for recruitment of new candidates, selection of citizens for the People's Public Security, or transitioning to professional service in the People's Public Security), except for cases specified in point b of Clause 3 of this Article.
d) Meet specific criteria as regulated in Article 6 of this Circular.

Therefore, candidates for the People's Public Security examination must meet the following height requirements:
- Height from 1m64 to 1m95 for males.
- Height from 1m58 to 1m80 for females.
The height standards do not apply to the following cases (according to Clause 2, Clause 3, Article 4 of Circular 62/2023/TT-BCA):
[1] Cases of recruiting new citizens into the People's Public Security:
- Citizens applying to People's Public Security schools as non-commissioned officers serving in the People's Public Security: The height standards apply at the time of recruitment to fulfill duties in the People's Public Security.
- Citizens applying to People's Public Security schools as ethnic minority non-commissioned officers: Height from 1m62 to 1m95 for males, and from 1m56 to 1m80 for females. Citizens falling under priority policy group 01 (UT1) in Appendix II of Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDĐT: Height from 1m60 to 1m95 for males, and from 1m55 to 1m80 for females.
- Citizens applying to People's Public Security schools as Vietnamese citizens with a university degree from domestic or foreign universities: Citizens graduating in natural sciences, engineering, computer science, and information technology are subject to height standards from 1m62 to 1m95 for males, and from 1m56 to 1m80 for females.
- Citizens applying through direct admission or examination to cultural and educational high schools: Height of 1m55 or more for males, and 1m50 or more for females.
Note: Citizens with multiple priority criteria are entitled to only the highest priority.
[2] Cases of selecting citizens into the People's Public Security, transitioning to professional service for non-commissioned officers who have completed their service in the People's Public Security:
- For non-commissioned officers who have completed their service in the People's Public Security and are considered for transitioning to professional service: Height standards apply at the time of recruitment to fulfill duties in the People's Public Security.
- For citizens with technical degrees assigned to technical, criminal technology, information technology, cybersecurity, electronic warfare; those with degrees of specialist doctorate, second-degree specialist doctorate, internship doctor, specialist pharmacist first class, specialist pharmacist second class, master's degree, doctorate in medical or pharmaceutical fields; those with the titles of professor, associate professor; ethnic minority individuals: Height from 1m62 to 1m95 for males, and from 1m56 to 1m80 for females.

Under Article 6, Clause 1 of Circular 62/2023/TT-BCA, the special criterias for the People's Public Security examination are as follows:
Special criterias
Citizens participating in the recruitment and selection for the People's Public Security and non-commissioned officers who have completed their service in the People's Public Security and are being considered for transitioning to professional service must ensure the following special indices:
a) Not addicted to any drugs or precursors specified in Government Decree No. 57/2022/NĐ-CP dated August 25, 2022, which regulates the list of drugs and precursors.
b) Normal hair color and style (according to the regulations of the People's Public Security).
c) No disorder in skin pigmentation, except for localized darkening in the cheek area (freckles).
d) No pierced holes in the nose or any other body parts for wearing jewelry. For males, no pierced holes in the ears or pierced holes in the ears that have healed into scars; for females, no more than 02 pierced holes in one ear or only one pierced hole in one ear, with any additional pierced holes having healed into scars.
dd) No raised or pulled scars on the head, face, neck, forearms, hands, or feet.
e) No tattoos or permanent marks on the skin, except for cases of eyebrow or lip cosmetic tattoos for females.
Therefore, in the case of females with eyebrow or lip cosmetic tattoos, they are still eligible to participate in the People's Public Security examination. However, males with eyebrow or lip cosmetic tattoos are not eligible to participate in the examination.

1. Health classification is based on health standards in Appendix I attached to this Circular.
2. Scoring Method
For each criterion, after the medical examination, the doctor assigns a score ranging from 1-6 in the "Score" column, specifically:
- Score 1: Indicates very good health status.
- Score 2: Indicates good health status.
- Score 3: Indicates fairly good health status.
- Score 4: Indicates average health status.
- Score 5: Indicates poor health status.
- Score 6: Indicates very poor health status.
3. Health Classification Method
- Type 1: All criteria receive a score of 1.
- Type 2: At least one criterion receives a score of 2.
- Type 3: At least one criterion receives a score of 3.
- Type 4: At least one criterion receives a score of 4.
- Type 5: At least one criterion receives a score of 5.
- Type 6: At least one criterion receives a score of 6.
Therefore, the classification of health during the medical examination for recruitment into the People's Public Security is categorized as follows:
