Graduating as a General Practitioner: Eligibility for Preventive Medicine Practice?
Clause 2, Clause 3 Article 9 of the Joint Circular 10/2015/TTLT-BYT-BNV stipulating the standards for preventive medicine physicians (category III) as follows:
* Standards for training and fostering qualifications:- Graduated in General Medicine or higher, or specialized in Preventive Medicine;
- Having foreign language proficiency level 2 (A2) or higher as prescribed in Circular No. 01/2014/TT-BGDDT dated January 24, 2014, by the Ministry of Education and Training issuing the 6-level foreign language competency framework for Vietnam, or having a certificate in ethnic language for positions requiring the use of ethnic languages;
- Having computer proficiency meeting the basic information technology skill standards prescribed in Circular No. 03/2014/TT-BTTTT dated March 11, 2014, by the Ministry of Information and Communications stipulating the standards of information technology skills.
* Standards for professional competence:- Understanding the viewpoints, guidelines, and policies of the Communist Party and the laws of the State on the work to protect, care for, and improve the health of the people;
- Having the capacity to identify the impact factors of the natural environment, society, and occupation on human health;
- Having the capacity to propose appropriate handling measures, plan for comprehensive health care, protect and improve the health of individuals, families, and communities, and protect the environment;
- Having the capacity to organize and evaluate the implementation of primary health care contents, national health target programs, and manage occupational health, injury prevention, and building safe communities;
- Having the capacity to early detect outbreaks, nutritional issues, and food safety in the community and participate in epidemic prevention and control;
- Having the capacity to participate in scientific research;
- Having skills in effective cooperation and coordination with departments, unions, and international organizations to perform tasks.
Therefore, if you graduate in General Medicine, you can become a preventive medicine physician if you meet the remaining conditions on
training and fostering qualifications and professional competence listed above.
