Graduates of Military Officer Schools Hold Which Rank?
According to Clause 5, Article 1 of the revised 2008 Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army, the following stipulations are provided:
Graduates from officer training programs who serve in active duty are conferred the rank of Second Lieutenant; distinguished graduates who perform excellently in specially designated training programs, or those who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in their work, are conferred the rank of First Lieutenant. In special cases, higher ranks may be conferred as stipulated by the Minister of National Defense.
Non-commissioned officers, soldiers during wartime, professional military personnel, and national defense officials on active duty; officials not in the military, and individuals with university degrees or higher who join active service and are appointed to officer positions, shall be conferred corresponding officer ranks.
=> Thus, according to the regulations mentioned above, students graduating from officer training at military academies will be conferred the rank of Second Lieutenant upon graduation. Distinguished graduates will be conferred the rank of First Lieutenant.
