Duration of Militia Service
According to Clause 2, Article 8 of the 2019 Law on Militia and Self-Defense, the duration of the obligation to participate in the militia and self-defense is stipulated as follows:
- The duration of participation in local militia, mobile militia, marine militia, anti-aircraft militia, artillery, reconnaissance, communication, engineering, chemical defense, and medical units is 4 years; regular militia is 2 years.
- Based on the defense and military requirements of the locality, agency, or organization, the duration of participation in the Militia and Self-Defense may be extended, but not exceeding 2 years; for marine militia, self-defense, and unit commanders of the Militia and Self-Defense, the extension may be longer but not exceeding the prescribed age limit.
