Conditions for Promoting the Rank of Reserve Officers

Section 2, Article 20 of Decree 78/2020/ND-CP (effective from August 19, 2020) stipulates the conditions for consideration of promotion in military rank, specifically:

Reserve officers who meet the following standards and conditions shall be considered for promotion in military rank:

- Possess good political qualities, ethics, and lifestyle; have knowledge and capability commensurate with the assigned position; during the period under consideration for promotion in military rank, comply well with regulations on registration, management, training, activities, and mobilization orders from competent authorities;

- Hold positions in the reserve mobilization unit and the position of the Chief Commander of the Commune Military Command with a need for a higher military rank than the current one;

- Meet the required time for consideration of promotion in reserve officer ranks as stipulated in Section 4, Article 41 of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army 1999, amended and supplemented in 2008 and 2014.
