Are National-Level Outstanding Students Exempt from Military Service?
Pursuant to Clause 2, Article 41 of the 2015 Law on Military Service, the regulation is as follows:
Exemption from conscription for the following citizens:
- Children of martyrs and children of first-class war invalids;
- A brother or sister of martyrs;
- A child of second-class war invalids; a child of invalids with 81% or more work capacity reduction; a child of people affected by Agent Orange with 81% or more work capacity reduction;
- People working in cryptographic positions who are not military personnel or People's Public Security;
- Officials and public employees, youth volunteers who are mobilized to work in areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions as regulated by law for 24 months or more.
** The law does not provide for exemption from military service for those who achieve high results in national exams. Therefore, you can refer to the five specific cases above to comply accordingly.**
