What is People's Public Security service in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 8 of the Law on People’s Public Security Force in 2018 stipulating obligation to join the People’s Public Security Force as follows:
Obligation to join the People’s Public Security Force
1. A citizen’s fulfillment of the obligation to join the People’s Public Security Force means that he/she has performed their obligation to defend the Fatherland during his/her service in the people’s armed force. Annually, the People’s Public Security Force may recruit citizens within age for service into the People’s Public Security Force for a period of 24 months. The Minister of Public Security shall be accorded authority to extend the period of service of non-commissioned officers and conscripts to no more than 06 months in the following cases:
a) Extension of the period of service serves the purpose of being ready to fight;
b) Extension of the period of service may be granted if they are performing natural disaster or epidemic prevention and control or rescue tasks.
2. The procedures for recruitment of eligible citizens into the People’s Public Security shall be similar to the procedures for recruitment of citizens eligible to perform active military duty.
3. The Government shall elaborate on clause 2 of this Article.
Therefore, People's Public Security service in Vietnam is the act of citizens performing their duty to defend the Fatherland in the armed forces of the people.
The procedures for recruitment of eligible citizens into the People’s Public Security shall be similar to the procedures for recruitment of citizens eligible to perform active military duty.

What are conditions for participating People's Public Security service in 2024 in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 5 of the Decree 70/2019/NĐ-CP stipulating conditions for draft of People's Public Security service in 2024 in Vietnam as follows:
Criteria for drafting
Citizens are eligible to perform People's Public Security service when they meet the following criteria:
1. Clear background.
2. Strictly abide by the Party's guidelines, policies, the laws of the State; have no criminal record, are not being prosecuted, are not under administrative supervision, are not under the influence of educational measures at the commune, ward, or town level, or are not in compulsory treatment or education facilities; have good moral character and are trusted by the people where they live or study or work.
3. Meet the political requirements of non-commissioned officers and soldiers serving under the national defense duty system in the People's Public Security.
4. Have a high school diploma or higher. Villages in mountainous, island, ethnic minority, and extremely disadvantaged socioeconomic areas are allowed to recruit citizens with a junior high school diploma.
5. Have a balanced physique, no deformities, and meet the health standards for national defense duty.
As regulations above, xitizens are eligible to perform People's Public Security service when they meet the following criteria:
- Clear background.
- Strictly abide by the Party's guidelines, policies, the laws of the State;
- Have no criminal record, are not being prosecuted, are not under administrative supervision, are not under the influence of educational measures at the commune, ward, or town level, or are not in compulsory treatment or education facilities;
