Maximum Duration of Compulsory Motorcycle Insurance
According to Clause 1, Article 9 of Decree 03/2021/ND-CP on compulsory civil liability insurance for motor vehicle owners, it is stipulated:
The duration on the Insurance Certificate is specifically:
- For two-wheeled motorbikes, three-wheeled motorbikes, mopeds (including electric bikes), and similar types of vehicles as prescribed by the Road Traffic Law, the minimum insurance period is 1 year and the maximum is 3 years.
- For other motor vehicles, the minimum insurance period is 1 year and the maximum period corresponds to the periodic technical safety and environmental protection inspection period with a duration of over 1 year.
- In the following cases, the insurance period is less than 1 year: Foreign motor vehicles temporarily imported, re-exported with a traffic participation period in the territory of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam of less than 1 year; the service life of the motor vehicle is less than 1 year as prescribed by law; motor vehicles subject to temporary registration in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Public Security.
=> Thus, according to the aforementioned regulation, the maximum duration on the Insurance Certificate for motorbikes is 3 years.
