Is it permissible to participate in insurance in a different province?
Based on Article 12 of the 2008 Health Insurance Law amended and supplemented by Clause 6, Article 1 of the 2014 Amended Health Insurance Law, the subjects participating in social insurance are divided into 5 groups:
Among those, the fifth group consists of individuals participating in health insurance through households, which include members of a family household that are not covered by the subjects stipulated in Clauses 1, 2, 3, and 4 of this Article.
For individuals under Clauses 1, 2, 3, and 4 of this Article, health insurance will be processed at the workplace or place of study, and they will receive health insurance cards issued by the state. For these groups, you do not need to self-register for health insurance.
For individuals classified under the fifth group, you must self-register for health insurance based on Official Dispatch 3170/BHXH-BT dated August 24, 2015, by following the steps below:
Step 1. Fully complete the Health Insurance Participant Declaration Form
Citizens must accurately and fully fill in personal information on the Health Insurance Participant Declaration Form and list all household members in the Household Member Participation List (form DK01), which can be obtained from the village or neighborhood leader.
Step 2. Submit the application to the social insurance agency at the place of residence
Citizens submit the declaration form to the social insurance agency or collection agent, along with the following documents:
- A copy of the household registration book;
- The original or a copy of the health insurance card of other household members who have already been issued cards to determine deductions.
Step 3. Pay the health insurance premium
After submitting the application, citizens pay the health insurance premium accordingly and receive a receipt with the date for the results.
Step 4. Collect the health insurance card from the social insurance agency
On the date specified in the receipt, citizens go to the social insurance collection agent or the social insurance agency where the application was submitted to receive the health insurance card.
