How long does a general practitioner have to practice to be granted a medical practice certificate?
To be granted a medical practice certificate, you must first meet the conditions specified in Article 18 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment 2009.
According to Article 24 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment 2009, which stipulates the time requirements for confirming the practice process, a physician must have 12 months of practice at a hospital to be eligible for a certificate.
Additionally, Article 15 of Circular 41/2011/TT-BYT specifies the principles for registering practical training as follows:
- The applicant for the practice certificate must register for practical training suitable for the professional diploma obtained.
...
- In the case of a general practitioner, they must register for practical training in one of the following four specialties: internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, or register for practical training in one of the combined systems: internal-pediatrics or surgery-obstetrics. If practicing in a combined system, the total practice time is 12 months, with at least 06 continuous months in each specialty within the system.
Therefore, as a general practitioner wishing to be granted a practice certificate, you must have 12 months of practice at a hospital.
This includes registering for practice in a specialty or a combined system. If practicing in a combined system, the total practice time is 12 months, with at least 06 continuous months in each specialty within the system.
Sincerely!
