How is the Position of Vietnam Social Insurance Defined?

According to the provisions of Article 1 of Decree No. 89/2020/ND-CP (effective from September 20, 2020), the position and function of Vietnam Social Security are stipulated as follows:

- Vietnam Social Security is an agency under the Government of Vietnam with the function of organizing the implementation of social insurance, health insurance policies; organizing the collection and disbursement of unemployment insurance benefits; managing and utilizing the funds: social insurance, unemployment insurance, health insurance; conducting specialized inspections on the payment of social insurance, unemployment insurance, health insurance as prescribed by law.

- Vietnam Social Security's international transaction name in English is Viet Nam Social Security, abbreviated as VSS.

- Vietnam Social Security is under the state management of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs for social insurance and unemployment insurance; of the Ministry of Health for health insurance; and of the Ministry of Finance for financial policies regarding the social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance funds.
