Can Insurance Agents Pay Insurance Claims When an Insurance Event Occurs?
Based on Article 85 of the 2000 Insurance Business Law, which stipulates the content of insurance agency activities. To be specific:
Insurance agents may be authorized by the insurer to conduct the following activities:
- Introducing and offering insurance;
- Arranging the conclusion of insurance contracts;
- Collecting insurance premiums;
- Arranging the settlement of claims and paying insurance benefits in the event of an insured event;
- Carrying out other activities related to the performance of insurance contracts.
Thus, the insurer has the right to authorize the insurance agent to carry out the aforementioned activities, including paying insurance benefits in the event of an insured event. Therefore, when authorized by the insurer, the insurance agent can still pay insurance benefits to the policyholder in the event of an insured event.
Respectfully!
