Are Children Covered by Health Insurance for Tonsillectomy?
According to Point b Clause 1 Article 14 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP, children under 6 years old are entitled to 100% of medical examination and treatment costs, and the payment limit for drugs, chemicals, medical supplies, and technical services as regulated by the Minister of Health does not apply.
In your case, your child's tonsil removal is not ineligible for health insurance. Therefore, health insurance still covers this case (Please refer to Summary of Health Insurance Coverage as per Current Regulations).
Thus, your child, when undergoing tonsil surgery at the registered initial medical examination and treatment location, will be entitled to 100% of the costs covered by the health insurance.
