Proposal on the measures for COVID-19 epidemic prevention in the new situation from the Ministry of Health of Vietnam

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Dispatch 3168/BYT-DP dated June 17, 2022 soliciting comments on draft Proposal on the measures for COVID-19 epidemic prevention in the new situation.

In particular, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam reports and proposes to the Prime Minister to consider and direct ministries, branches, and localities to implement measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic in the new situation, specifically as follows:

(1) The classification of COVID-19 disease has not been temporarily changed from a group A infectious disease to a group B infectious disease, or COVID-19 has not been considered an endemic disease.

The application of anti-epidemic measures is flexible and gradually moves towards the "new normal".

(2) The announcement of the end of the COVID-19 epidemic in Vietnam may be considered when WHO declares the end of the pandemic status or public health event of concern globally and the situation of the COVID-19 epidemic in Vietnam continuing to be well controlled.

(3) Assigning the Ministry of Health ò Vietnam to continue to review, research and proactively adjust in the direction of gradually reducing measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic under the epidemic situation.

(4) Assigning ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to continue strictly implementing epidemic prevention and control measures as prescribed in Resolution 38/NQ-CP dated 17/17/ 3/2022 of the Government;

Consider reducing or loosening regulations, regulations, conditions, and guidelines on social measures to be consistent with health measures, creating more favorable conditions for organizations, agencies, businesses, and individual implementation, and creating conditions for socio-economic development activities.

In case of exceeding its competence, it is requested to report to the competent authorities for amendments, adjustments, and supplements to ensure the proper implementation of the regulations of law.
