Based on Section 5 General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the specific content of the grade 7 literature curriculum is as follows:

Understand how to write documents following steps: pre-writing preparation (identifying topic, purpose, collecting material); brainstorming and outlining; writing; reviewing and editing, learning from experience.
Practice writing
- Be able to write an essay recounting real events related to a character or historical event; an essay that includes descriptive elements.
- Be able to write an expressive essay (about a person or event).
- Initially, be able to compose a four-line or five-line poem; write a paragraph summarizing personal emotions after reading a four-line or five-line poem.
- Initially, be able to write an argumentative essay about an issue in life, clearly presenting the issue and the opinion (agreement or disagreement) of the writer; provide clear arguments and diverse evidence.
- Initially, be able to write an analysis of a character’s features in a literary work.
- Initially, be able to write an informational text explaining a rule or law in a game or activity.
- Be able to write a clear, complete, and correctly formatted report.
- Know how to summarize a document as per varying length requirements while ensuring it captures the main content.
