The students' training results are periodically assessed according to the provisions of Article 11 of the Regulation on Assessment of Training Results for Learners issued together with Circular 16/2015/TT-BGDDT as follows:

- Learners, based on their own training results, conduct self-assessment according to the detailed scoring criteria set by the university.

- A class meeting is organized with the participation of the class advisor/counselor, who reviews and approves the self-assessed scores of each learner based on evidence confirming the results, with more than half of the class unit's approval, and must be accompanied by a report.

The class advisor/counselor certifies the class meeting results and forwards them to the Faculty-level Assessment Council for Learner Training Results (hereinafter referred to as Faculty Council).

- The Faculty-level Assessment Council meets, deliberates, agrees, reports to the Dean for approval, and submits the results to the School-level Assessment Council for Learner Training Results (hereinafter referred to as School-level Council).

- The School-level Council meets, deliberates, agrees, and submits to the Rector for review, consideration, and recognition of the results.

- The assessment results and classification of learner training must be publicly announced and notified to learners at least 20 days prior to the issuance of the official decision.

How many assessment categories for students' training results are there in Vietnam?

Under Article 9 of the Regulation on Assessment of Training Results for Learners issued together with Circular 16/2015/TT-BGDDT, training results are assessed bt the following categories:

- Training results are divided into categories: excellent, good, rather good, average, weak, and poor.

- Classification of training results:

+ From 90 to 100 points: excellent;

+ From 80 to under 90 points: good;

+ From 65 to under 80 points: rather good;

+ From 50 to under 65 points: average;

+ From 35 to under 50 points: weak;

+ Under 35 points: poor.

Additionally, Article 10 of the Regulation on Assessment of Training Results for Learners issued together with Circular 16/2015/TT-BGDDT provides for classification for assessment:

- During the period the learner is disciplined at the level of reprimand, the training result cannot exceed the rather good category.

- During the period the learner is disciplined at the level of warning, the training result cannot exceed the average category.

- Learners disciplined to the extent of suspension from study cannot have their training evaluated during the suspension period.

- Learners disciplined to the extent of expulsion cannot have their training results evaluated.

- Learners who complete the coursework and graduate later than prescribed by the program are still evaluated for training results while completing the supplementary coursework and graduating, depending on the reason for prescribing the training rating during the supplementary period.

- Learners with disabilities, orphans of both parents or either parent, those with particularly difficult family circumstances verified by the local authorities, where unable to participate or meet general requirements for training activities, shall be given priority, motivation, encouragement, and additional points in Assessment based on their efforts and progress, subject to their specific category and circumstances.

- Students who temporarily leave their studies but retain their assessed training results are evaluated for training upon returning to their studies in accordance with regulations.

- Learners pursuing two simultaneous training programs will have their training results evaluated at the managing unit of the first program and review comments from the managing unit of the second program as a basis for additional Assessment. If the first program is completed, the managing unit of the second program continues to evaluate the learner's training results.

- Learners transferring schools with the consent of the Rectors of both universities retain the training results from the former university when studying at the new university and continue to be evaluated for training results in subsequent semesters.

When are students' training results in Vietnam assessed?

According to Article 13 of the Regulation on Assessment of Training Results for Learners issued together with Circular 16/2015/TT-BGDDT, the assessment periods are as follows:

- The assessment of training results for learners is conducted periodically by semester, academic year, and the entire course.

- The semester training score is the total score achieved from the 5 detailed assessment contents defined by the university.

- The annual training score is the average of the training scores of the semesters within that academic year.

- The overall training score for the course is the average of the training scores from all semesters of the course.
