What are mandatory subjects and educational activities for 8th Grade in Vietnam?
Under Section IV of the General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the mandatory subjects and educational activities for the lower secondary level are as follows:
Mandatory subjects and educational activities are Literature; Mathematics; Foreign Language 1; Physical Education; National Defense and Security Education; Experiential activities, career orientation; and Local education content.
Thus, there is a total of 7 mandatory subjects and educational activities for 8th Grade.
In Vietnam, what is the content of Local Education in 8th Grade?
Under Section V of the General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the content of Local Education at the lower secondary level in general and for 8th Grade in particular as follows:
- The content of local education includes fundamental or current issues of local culture, history, geography, economy, society, environment, career orientation, etc., supplementing the nationally unified mandatory education content, equipping students with knowledge about their living place, nurturing a love for their homeland, and fostering the awareness to understand and apply what they have learned to contribute to solving the problems of their homeland.
- At the secondary education level, local education content holds an equivalent position to other subjects.
- Based on the general education program, the People's Committee of provinces or centrally governed cities prescribes the standards, and processes for compiling, assessing, and revising materials about local education content; directs the organization, compilation, and assessment of materials regarding local education content following the Ministry of Education and Training's guidelines and reports to the Ministry for approval.
