The Government of Vietnam's Orientation for Responding to Climate Change and Sea Level Rise to 2030

The Government of Vietnam has issued orientations and tasks for responding to climate change and sea level rise to 2030. To be specific:

- Enhancing the capacity for monitoring climate change, forecasting, early warning system, and early warning information transmission systems for risks at sea and coastal areas to proactively respond to natural disasters and climate change; periodically updating climate change and sea level rise scenarios.

By 2030, the natural disaster forecasting and warning system and climate change impact assessment will be modernized and smoothly connected.

- Improving the resilience and recovery ability of natural and social systems in marine and coastal areas against the negative impacts of climate change; developing community models to respond to natural disasters and climate change; monitoring the impacts of climate change on maritime economic sectors and the lives and livelihoods of communities in marine and coastal areas.

- Implementing response measures, including ecosystem-based and nature-based solutions through the conservation and restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems, to minimize damage caused by sea-level rise, saltwater intrusion, flooding, drought, and other related impacts on marine and coastal areas.

- Actively preparing plans and conditions for disaster prevention, avoidance, and mitigation, as well as addressing the impacts of climate change and sea level rise in the exploitation and utilization of marine and island resources in accordance with each marine economy sector and marine and coastal region.

- Reviewing and innovating technology and activities related to the exploitation and utilization of marine and island resources in the direction of minimizing greenhouse gas emissions in line with Vietnam's commitment at COP 26 to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
