Circular 19: Energy-saving Solutions in Aquaculture

This is a prominent regulation mentioned in Circular 19/2013/TT-BNNPTNT issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which provides guidelines for effective and efficient energy use measures in agricultural production.

Organizations, households, and individuals can implement energy-saving and efficient measures in the aquaculture sector through the methods listed in Article 7 of Circular 19/2013/TT-BNNPTNT as follows:

- Prioritize research, breeding, and dissemination of high-quality, high-yield aquatic breeds; improve farming techniques to increase feed conversion ratios.- Minimize excessive use of feed in farming systems; control diseases; ensure hygienic conditions and food safety.- Develop and scale up water-saving aquaculture models; expand combined and integrative farming models (crop rotation, multi-cropping - utilizing nutritional levels, integrated farming - combined VAC farming).- Apply new technologies in environmentally-friendly pond management (utilize aquatic plants for environmental treatment, use recirculating filtration technology to minimize water changes).- Fully utilize renewable energy (wind energy, solar energy) in farming systems.

In addition, Circular 19 also stipulates the use of energy-saving and efficient measures in the exploitation, protection, and development of aquatic resources, as follows:

- Organize fishing ground forecasts and timely notifications to fishermen.- Develop production models, combining exploitation with on-sea fishing logistics services to enhance exploitation efficiency and protect fishing grounds.- Plan to gradually eliminate outdated fishing methods and low-energy efficiency equipment that do not meet minimum emission standards to be replaced by advanced, high-efficiency tools, and processing and preservation equipment.
