On August 5, 2024, the Minister of Planning and Investment of Vietnam issued Decision 1710/QD-BKHDT on the Plan for the Survey on agricultural, forestry and fishery production prices in Vietnam.

The subjects of the survey on agricultural, forestry and fishery production prices are agricultural, forestry, and fishery products produced and sold by production units included in the list of items calculated in the agricultural, forestry, and fishery production price index in Vietnam.

The survey units are households, enterprises, cooperatives, and other organizations directly engaged in producing and selling agricultural, forestry, and fishery products, with stable business locations in various economic sectors.

The survey units for each type of agricultural, forestry, and fishery product are specified below:

(1) For annual crops, perennial crops, and livestock products: The survey units are households, businesses, cooperatives, and other organizations involved in the production and sale of annual crops, perennial crops, and livestock products;

(2) For agricultural services: The survey units are agricultural service cooperatives, irrigation stations, organizations, or households specializing in agricultural services, such as irrigation, planting, soil preparation, etc.;

(3) For forestry products: The survey units are forestry enterprises, forestry cooperatives, or forestry households;

(4) For fishery products: The survey units are fishing households, large-scale and concentrated aquaculture farms. Due to specific characteristics, those who directly sell fishery products at fish ports, fish docks, and fish markets are also included in the survey units.

Regarding the timing and duration of the survey:

- The survey on agricultural, forestry and fishery production prices will be conducted on the 5th of every month. If the survey units do not sell agricultural, forestry, and fishery products on the exact survey day, the price of the closest day before or after the 5th of the survey month, but not later than the 12th of each month, will be used.

- The survey period will be from the 5th to the 12th of each month.

It is known that the survey on agricultural, forestry and fishery production prices is a sample survey under the National Statistical Survey Program conducted for the following main purposes:

- Compile the production price index for agriculture, forestry, and fisheries within the National Statistical Indicator System.

- Ensure information on agricultural, forestry, and fishery production price indexes is provided for the Communist Party, National Assembly, the Government of Vietnam, ministries, and localities for management, administration, planning, implementation of national target programs, and compilation of some aggregated statistical indicators at comparable prices.

- Meet the information needs on price fluctuations in agricultural, forestry, and fishery production for people, businesses, production units, and other information users.
