05 Measures for Efficient Energy Use in Crop Production

On March 15, 2013, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development signed and issued Circular 19/2013/TT-BNNPTNT providing guidance on measures for efficient energy use in agricultural production.

According to the provisions of Article 3 Circular 19/2013/TT-BNNPTNT, the efficient and economical use of energy in crop production and plant protection can be implemented through the following measures:

- Rational planning; promote research for breeding, developing high-yield, high-quality raw material plants for biofuel production.- Prioritize research, breeding, and dissemination of new crop varieties with tolerance to drought, waterlogging, salinity, and pest resistance.- Flexibly adjust crop structure in accordance with each region; adapt the crop structure suitable for each type of cultivated land.- Reasonably use fertilizers and plant protection chemicals; prioritize the application of integrated pest management methods for pest control in the field.- Collect and reuse agricultural by-products (straw, rice husks, bagasse, etc.) as raw materials for other production sectors such as: mushroom cultivation, fertilizer production, animal feed, fuel, biomass (biomass) for household needs, processing, and preserving agricultural products.
