Mathematical Foundations in Building Digital Authoring

Recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued Circular 47/2014/TT-BTNMT stipulating the technical regulations for establishing administrative maps at various levels, which includes provisions on the mathematical basis for constructing digital author sheets.

Pursuant to Article 21 of Circular 47/2014/TT-BTNMT, the establishment of the mathematical basis is regulated as follows:

1. For National Administrative Maps

- Map Frame: The East and West frames are parallel to the central meridian; the North and South frames are perpendicular to the central meridian;

- The map is divided into sections and numbered in cases where there are two or more sections; natural numbers are used for numbering, following the principle from North to South, from West to East;

- The national administrative map has a meridian and parallel density of 2° x 20° at all scales;

- National coordinate and elevation points range from 2 to 4 points within a geographical region for map creation; this content may not be displayed on national administrative maps at a scale of 1:3,500,000;

- Map scale notation and scale bar.

2. For Provincial and District Administrative Maps

- Map Frame: The East and West frames are parallel to the central meridian; the North and South frames are perpendicular to the central meridian;

- The map is divided into sections and numbered in cases where there are two or more sections; natural numbers are used for numbering, following the principle from North to South, from West to East;

- For provincial and district administrative maps, meridian and parallel density is as shown in the Table below:

- National coordinate and elevation points: Quantity ranges from 2 to 4 points within an administrative unit for map creation;

- Map scale notation and scale bar.

Above are the regulations on the mathematical basis for creating digital author maps for individuals performing the task of establishing state administrative maps to reference and execute their work.

More details can be found in Circular 47/2014/TT-BTNMT, effective from August 22, 2014.
