Brief Introduction to the Plant Protection Industry at Intermediate Level

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) issued Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that students must achieve upon graduation from intermediate or college levels in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary science.

According to the Minimum Knowledge Volume Regulations, the competency requirements that students must achieve after graduating at the intermediate and college level in the field of plant protection, issued along with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, plant protection at the intermediate level is a field aimed at training contents about: Soil, fertilizers, living environment, planting techniques and crop care, especially with in-depth research and experiments on pest knowledge, plant diseases and pest control management measures on crops and other work, meeting the requirements of level 4 in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

The tasks of the profession include everything from protecting plants in the field to research, organizing production, and trading plant protection products. Plant protection practitioners can work on farms, in farming households, cooperatives, companies that produce and trade plant protection products, and in agencies and organizations related to plant protection.

Note that the minimum knowledge volume required is 1400 hours (equivalent to 50 credits).

Additionally, after graduating in plant protection at the intermediate level, students need to achieve the following minimum level of autonomy and responsibility:

- Have good moral qualities and proper awareness of the profession, cooperate with colleagues, respect the law and workplace regulations;

- Be honest and highly disciplined, ready to take on assigned tasks;

- Have a sense of civic responsibility, discipline, and industrial work style, professional labor skills, and the ability to work in teams;

- Possess scientific and creative working methods and always update information.
