What are regulations on the university training program in Vietnam?
According to Article 2 of the undergraduate training regulation issued together with Circular 08/2021/TT-BGDDT:
- The training program is built on a credit unit basis, structured from courses or subjects (commonly referred to as subjects), comprising both compulsory subjects and meeting the training program standards according to the current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
In cases of dual-degree or major-minor programs, the training program must clearly demonstrate the combined and exclusive study load for each major.
- The content and expected outcomes of the training program apply uniformly to various forms of training and different types of learners.
For those who have graduated from other levels or majors, the actual study load is determined based on the recognition or transfer of accumulated credits and exemption from subjects in the previous training program.
- The training program must be publicly disclosed to learners before enrollment and at the beginning of the course; any changes or adjustments related to the training program are made according to the current regulations and announced before application, not causing adverse effects on students.
- For each training form, the training program should provide a standard whole-course study plan to guide students.
+ The time according to the standard whole-course study plan for formal education must align with the time specified in the Framework of the National Education System and ensure that the majority of students complete the training program;
+ The time according to the standard whole-course study plan for non-formal education must be at least 20% longer than the formal education of the same training program.
- The maximum time for students to complete the course is regulated in the institution's regulation, but it should not exceed twice the time according to the standard whole-course study plan for each training form.
For inter-disciplinary students who have been exempted from the accumulated credit load, the maximum time to complete the course is determined on the basis of the standard whole-course study plan time reduced corresponding to the exempted load.
