Pursuant to Clause 2, Article 38 of the Charter for lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, and multi-level schools issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, regulations on commendation and disciplining of students in Vietnam are as follows:

Commendation and Disciplining

  1. Students with achievements in learning and training are commended by teachers, the school, and educational management levels through the following forms:

a) Commendation in front of the class or the entire school.

b) Awarding titles in accordance with the regulations.

c) Issuing certificates, commendations, or diplomas if they achieve outstanding results or significant progress in certain fields of study, competition movements; attaining achievements in exams and contests as stipulated and permitted by the Ministry of Education and Training.

d) Other forms of commendation.

  1. Students with violation during the learning and training process are educated or disciplined through the following forms:

a) Remind, support, and directly help students to overcome their shortcomings.

b) Reprimand, notify parents to collaborate in helping students overcome their shortcomings.

c) Temporarily suspend schooling and implement other educational measures as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Thus, the forms of disciplinary actions for upper secondary students according to Circular 32 include:

- Remind, support, and directly help students to overcome their shortcomings.

b) The Disciplinary Council for staff, teachers, and employees is established to review and propose disciplinary actions for staff, teachers, and employees based on each case. The establishment, composition, and activities of the Disciplinary Council for staff, teachers, and employees follow legal provisions.
