What are methods for assessing grade 4 students in Vietnam?

- Observation method: Teachers monitor and listen to students during classroom instruction, using observation sheets, checklists, and diaries to record students’ behaviors as evidence for evaluating their learning and practice process.

- Assessment through study portfolios, products, and activities of students: Teachers provide comments and evaluations on students’ products and activity results, thereby assessing students according to related evaluation contents.

- Oral assessment method: Teachers interact with students through Q&A sessions to gather information, providing comments and helping measures promptly.

- Written test method: Teachers use tests that include questions and exercises designed according to the levels and requirements of the curriculum, in the form of multiple-choice, essay, or a combination of both, to evaluate the achievement of the educational contents needed for assessment.

What does the Assessment Record for grade 4 students in Vietnam include?

According to Article 10 of the Regulation on the Assessment of Primary School Students issued together with Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT, the assessment record serves as evidence of the learning and training process, as well as the academic results of students; it provides information to enhance the coordination in educating students between teachers, schools, and parents.

The assessment record for each school year of every grade 4 student includes the School Record and the Summary Sheet of Educational Assessment Results of the Class, wherein:

- The Summary Sheet of Educational Assessment Results of the classes is stored at the school as prescribed.

- The School Record is stored by the school throughout the student’s time at the school and is handed over to the student upon completion of primary education or school transfer.
