The 3rd and 4th dose of Covid-19 vaccine for people aged 12 and over to be deployed to ensure safety when BA.5 subvariant appear in Vietnam?
In the face of complicated and unpredictable developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, especially when Vietnam has appeared the first BA.5 subvariant cases. In order to strengthen disease control and create favorable conditions for the country's economic and social development, the Government Office has issued Official Letter 4114/VPCP-KGVX in 2022 directing individuals and organizations concerned fulfill the following requirements:
"1. The Ministry of Health, relevant ministries, agencies and localities thoroughly, strictly, drastically and effectively implement the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister in the following documents: Resolution No. 63/NQ -CP dated May 3, 2022, Resolution No. 77/NQ-CP dated June 8, 2022; Documents: No. 2263/VPCP-KGVX dated April 12, 2022, No. 2323/VPCP-KGVX dated April 14, 2022, No. 2521/VPCP-KGVX dated April 21, 2022, No. 2570/VPCP-KGVX dated April 22, 2022, No. 26400/VPCP-KGVX on April 27, 2022, No. 3182/VPCP-KGVX on May 23, 2022, No. 3724/VPCP-KGVX on June 15, 2022, No. 162/TB- VPCP dated June 2, 2022, No. 182/TB-VPCP dated June 23, 2022 of the Government Office and other relevant documents.
2. Assign Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam to continue directing the Ministry of Health, ministries, branches and 63 provinces and centrally-run cities to drastically implement measures to prevent and control the epidemic, especially speed up COVID-19 vaccination for target groups according to the goals and requirements of the Government.
3. Request to the Ministry of Health:
- Urgent and more drastic in urging and supporting localities to accelerate vaccination against COVID-19, especially the 3rd and 4th doses for people aged 12 years and older; 2 injections for children from 5 years old to under 12 years old according to the goals set by the Government and the Prime Minister, ensuring safety, science and effectiveness.
- Ensure adequate and timely supply of medicines, biological products, supplies and equipment in service of medical examination and treatment and epidemic prevention and control throughout the country.
3. Request the Presidents of the People's Committees of the provinces and centrally-run cities:
- Focus on leading and directing to promote vaccination against COVID-19 with doses 3 and 4 for people 12 years old and older, and 2 doses for children from 5 years old to under 12 years old, as instructed by the Ministry of Health. According to the Government's target, the Prime Minister has set out to ensure safety, science and efficiency. Use timely and effectively the number of COVID-19 vaccines allocated by the Ministry of Health, avoiding waste.
- Ensure adequate and timely medicines, biological products, supplies and equipment for epidemic prevention and control and medical examination and treatment for people in the locality.
4. The Ministry of Information and Communications shall assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with the Ministry of Health in, directing media agencies to do a good job of communicating so that people can understand the complicated and unpredictable developments of the epidemic and the subvariant BA.5 of the SARS-CoV-2 virus can cause an outbreak to re-emerge to support and actively participate in vaccination against COVID-19 and continue to take measures to prevent and control the disease.”
Accordingly, the Government Office has requested the Ministry of Health to urgently and decisively expedite and deploy the 3rd and 4th doses of Covid-19 vaccine for people aged 12 years and older and complete 2 doses for children from 5 to under 12 years old.

Covid-19 test before entering Vietnam to be temporarily suspended?
Pursuant to Official Dispatch 416/CD-TTg in 2022 of the Prime Minister, there are the following directives:
"1. Temporarily suspend the test for the SARS-CoV-2 virus before entering Vietnam from 00:00 on May 15, 2022. The Ministry of Health closely monitors the epidemic situation, promptly guides preventive measures, and suitable resistance.
2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall direct overseas Vietnamese agencies to notify persons wishing to enter Vietnam to comply with the requirements for epidemic prevention and control under the guidance of the Ministry of Health.
3. The Ministry of Transport directs airlines to take measures to prevent and control the epidemic on means of transport under the guidance of the Ministry of Health.
4. Presidents of People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities strictly implement measures on epidemic prevention and control in their localities under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and relevant ministries and branches.
5. Request ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, government-attached agencies, heads of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to continue focusing on directing the implementation of preventive measures, fight against the COVID-19 epidemic; regularly inspect and promptly handle arising problems according to their competence or report them to competent authorities as prescribed./.”
Accordingly, from 0:00 on May 15, 2022, the request for Covid-19 test will be temporarily suspended 9 before entering Vietnam. The Ministry of Health is monitoring the epidemic situation to have appropriate instructions in measures to combat the Covid-19 epidemic.
How to handle at the border gate when detecting suspected cases of Covid-19 infection for people entering Vietnam?
Pursuant to Official Dispatch 2860/BYT-DP 2022 of the Ministry of Health, there are the following guidelines:
"1. Strictly implement the Official Dispatch No. 416/CD-TTg dated May 13, 2022 of the Prime Minister on the suspension of the requirement to be tested for SARS-CoV-2 virus before entering Vietnam; Official Letter No. 2118/BYT-DP dated April 26, 2022 of the Ministry of Health on the suspension of medical declaration at border gates for COVID-19 and Official Letter No. 2213/BYT-DP dated April 29/ 2022 of the Ministry of Health on the suspension of the application of domestic health declaration.
2. Work closely with relevant agencies to monitor and detect suspected COVID-19 cases, promptly handle them at the border gate, and closely monitor and handle outbreaks early in the community according to regulations, do not neglect to be subjective in the prevention and control of COVID-19.
3. Actively advise, plan and implement Resolution No. 38/NQ-CP dated March 17, 2022 of the Government promulgating the Program on COVID-19 prevention and control; review and update contingency plans to respond to epidemic situations, train, train, and rehearse techniques and plans to be ready to respond effectively when the epidemic has unusual developments.
4. Regularly inspect and supervise the work performed at the grassroots level, promptly guide and handle arising problems or report and discuss with the Ministry of Health for joint resolution.
