Vietnamese officials and public employees to be propagated and advocated to receive 3rd and 4th doses of Covid-19 vaccine?
In order to strengthen immunity and protect the health of officials and public employees working in state agencies, the Ministry of Health has issued Official Letter 3460/BYT-DP 2022 of the Ministry of Health, which has guidelines for ministries to pay attention and direct relevant agencies to implement the following contents:
"1. Strengthen propaganda and advocacy in officials and public employees to fully and promptly participate in vaccination to protect the health of themselves and the community according to the guidance of the Ministry of Health in Official Dispatch No. 3309/BYT- DP dated June 23, 2022 (please attach).
2. Organize the Launching Ceremony of the vaccinate campaign against COVID-19 with doses 3 and 4 for officials and public employees under the guidance of the Ministry of Health in the first week of July 2022.
3. The Ministries direct the agencies under their management to contact the local vaccination facilities to receive vaccination.
The Ministry of Health respectfully requests the Ministries to pay attention and direct the implementation./.”
Accordingly, ministries need to strengthen propaganda and advocacy officials and public employees to fully and promptly receive the 3rd and 4th doses of Covid-19 vaccine to improve their health and protect themselves as well as the community.

How to administer the Covid-19 vaccine to people aged 18 and over in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Section 2 of Official Letter 3309/BYT-DP in 2022 of the Ministry of Health, guiding the vaccination against Covid-19 as follows:
“II. Vaccination against COVID-19 for people aged 18 and over
1. Inject additional dose (This dose is not the 3rd dose)
- Subjects: people aged 18 years and over, including
+ People with moderate and severe immunodeficiency such as those undergoing active cancer treatment for tumors or blood cancers; organ transplant recipients and are taking immunosuppressive drugs; people receiving T-cell antibody receptor therapy (a type of treatment that helps the immune system attack and destroy cancer cells) or have a stem cell transplant (within the past 2 years); people with moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (eg, DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome); people with advanced or untreated HIV; people who are on active treatment with corticosteroids or high-dose immunosuppressive drugs.
+ People who have received the full basic dose of Sinopharm vaccine (Vero cell) or Sputnik V vaccine.
- Type of vaccine: the same vaccine as the basal dose or mRNA vaccine; or AstraZeneca vaccine for people who have received the full basic dose of Sinopharm vaccine (Vero cell).
- Interval: 01 additional injection after the last dose of the basic dose from 28 days to 3 months.
- Dosage: according to the manufacturer's instructions for use approved by the Ministry of Health.
- People who have been infected with COVID-19 should be vaccinated immediately after recovering and completing medical isolation as prescribed.
2. Inject 1st booster dose (3rd dose) (does not include additional dose)
- Subjects: people aged 18 years and over who have received the full basic dose (1 or 2 or 3 depending on the type of vaccine and the additional dose if any)
- Type of vaccine: the same vaccine as the basal dose or mRNA vaccine; or AstraZeneca vaccine if the primary dose is Sinopharm vaccine (Vero cell) or mRNA vaccine.
- Interval: 1 booster dose at least 3 months after the last dose of the basic dose.
- Dosage: according to the manufacturer's instructions for use approved by the Ministry of Health. For Moderna vaccine, 0.25ml dose (1/2 basic dose).
- People who have been infected with COVID-19 should be vaccinated immediately after recovering and completing medical isolation as prescribed.
3. Inject the 2nd booster dose (4th dose)
- Subjects: people aged 50 and over; people aged 18 years and over with moderate to severe immunodeficiency; people aged 18 years and older who are in high-risk groups for exposure to COVID-19 such as health workers, frontline officials (police forces, army, teachers, people working in the transportation sector, people providing essential services, people working at tourist service establishments, trade centers, supermarkets, markets), workers, people working in industrial parks.
- Vaccine type: mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna vaccine); AstraZeneca vaccine; vaccines of the same type as the 3rd dose (1st booster);
- Interval: at least 4 months after the 3rd dose (1st booster).
- People who have contracted COVID-19 after the 3rd injection: inject it 3 months after getting COVID-19 and ensure a gap of at least 4 months after the 3rd dose.”
Accordingly, the implementation of vaccination against Covid-19 for people aged 18 years and over is carried out according to the above guidance of the Ministry of Health.
How to deploy 3rd doses of Covid-19 vaccine for people from 12 to 17 years old in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Section III of Official Dispatch 3309/BYT-DP 2022 of the Ministry of Health The guidelines for vaccination against Covid-19 are as follows:
“III. Booster dose (3rd dose) of COVID-19 vaccine for people 12 to 17 years old
- Subjects: children from 12 years old to 17 years old who have received the full basic dose (1st and 2nd dose).
- Type of vaccine: Pfizer vaccine has been approved by the Ministry of Health for use in this age group.
- Dosage: 0.3 ml dose is similar to the basic dose of people aged 12 years and older
- Interval: at least 5 months after the last dose of the basal dose (Dose 2)
- People who have had COVID-19: inject 3 months after contracting COVID-19 and ensure that the interval from the last dose of the basic dose is at least 5 months.”
Accordingly, the 3 doses of Covid-19 vaccine for people aged 12 to under 17 years are carried out according to the above guidance of the Ministry of Health.
