Current Prime Minister's Salary Calculation Based on Salary Coefficient and Statutory Pay Rate
What is the current salary of the Prime Minister calculated based on the salary coefficient and statutory pay rate?
The salary coefficient for the position of Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam is 12.50 (based on the “Position Salary Table for State Leadership Officials” issued with Resolution 730/2004/NQ-UBTVQH11).
Based on Article 3 of Circular 10/2023/TT-BNV, the Prime Minister's salary is calculated as follows:
Prime Minister's Salary = Statutory Pay Rate x Current Salary Coefficient
The current statutory pay rate is 1,800,000 VND/month (as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 3 of Decree 24/2023/ND-CP).
Thus, the current salary of the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam is 22,500,000 VND/month (excluding allowances and other benefits, if any).
In addition, according to Resolution 27-NQ/TW of 2018, from July 1, 2024, salary policies will be reformed to abolish the current statutory pay rate and salary coefficient, developing new salary policies. Accordingly, the basic salary of officials and public employees will be a specific amount in the new salary table.
The salary for the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam is expected to be calculated according to the position salary table applied to officials and public employees holding leadership positions (elected and appointed) in the political system from the central to commune level.
From July 1, 2024, the Prime Minister's salary is expected to be calculated as follows:
Salary = Basic Salary + Allowances (if any) + Bonuses (if any).
In detail:
- Basic Salary: Constitutes about 70% of the total salary fund (according to the new salary table, specifically the position salary table applied to officials and public employees holding leadership positions (elected and appointed) in the political system from central to commune level).
- Allowances: Constitutes about 30% of the total salary fund.
- Bonuses: The bonus fund is about 10% of the annual total salary fund, excluding allowances.
*Note: The specific detailed salary level of the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam will be determined when the new salary table and policies on allowances and bonuses (if any) are issued.
