What are the standards for Village midwives in Vietnam?
Based on Article 2 of Circular 27/2023/TT-BYT, the standards for Village midwives are as follows:
(1) Professional qualifications and training: Village midwives must meet one of the following criteria:
- Completion of a certified program according to the specified content of professional training and job requirements as follows:
+ For Village midwives: the content of professional training and job requirements specified in Appendix 04 of this Circular, with a minimum training period of six (06) months.
+ For Village health workers who also serve as Village midwives: the content of professional training and job requirements specified in Appendix 05 issued with Circular 27/2023/TT-BYT, with a minimum training period of three (03) months.
Possession of professional qualifications in medicine (doctor, nurse, midwife) from intermediate level or above.
(2) Voluntarily participating as a Village health worker or Village midwife.
(3) Having sufficient health conditions to perform the assigned tasks as specified.
What are the functions of Village midwives in Vietnam?
Based on Article 3 of Circular 27/2023/TT-BYT, the functions of Village health workers and Village midwives are as follows:

1. For Village health workers: to support the commune health station in providing primary healthcare services in the village.
2. For Village midwives: to support the commune health station in providing healthcare services for mothers and children in the village.
Therefore, based on the above regulations, Village midwives have the function of supporting the commune health station in providing healthcare services for mothers and children in the village.
