Schedule of Entrance Fees for Several Domestic Museums

The Ministry of Finance has just issued Circular No. 160/2016/TT-BTC stipulating the rates, collection policies, payment, management, and use of visit fees at some domestic museums.

Circular 160/2016/TT-BTC stipulates the rates, collection policies, remittance, management, and use of fees for visiting the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology. The entrance fee for adults is 40,000 VND/person/visit; for students in universities, colleges, intermediate schools, and vocational schools, the entrance fee is 20,000 VND/person/visit; for children and students in general educational institutions, the entrance fee is 10,000 VND/person/visit.

Circular 161/2016/TT-BTC stipulates the rates, collection policies, remittance, management, and use of fees for visiting the Vietnam Museum of Cultural Ethnology. According to this Circular, the entrance fee for adults is 30,000 VND/person/visit; for students in universities, colleges, intermediate schools, and vocational schools, the entrance fee is 20,000 VND/person/visit; for children and students in general educational institutions, the entrance fee is 10,000 VND/person/visit.

Circular 163/2016/TT-BTC stipulates the rates, collection policies, remittance, management, and use of fees for visiting the National History Museum. This Circular stipulates that the entrance fee for adults is 40,000 VND/person/visit; for students in universities, colleges, intermediate schools, and vocational schools, the entrance fee is 20,000 VND/person/visit; for children and students in general educational institutions, the entrance fee is 10,000 VND/person/visit.

Cases exempted from visiting fees include: children under 6 years old; severely disabled persons as defined in Clause 1, Article 11 of Decree 28/2012/ND-CP dated April 10, 2012, of the Government of Vietnam, detailing and guiding the implementation of certain articles of the Law on Persons with Disabilities.

A 50% reduction in museum entrance fees is applicable to: beneficiaries of cultural enjoyment policies as stipulated in Article 2 of Decision 170/2003/QD-TTg dated August 14, 2003, by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam on "Cultural Enjoyment Preferential Policies"; elderly persons as defined in Decree 06/2011/ND-CP dated January 14, 2011, of the Government of Vietnam, detailing and guiding the implementation of certain articles of the Law on the Elderly; persons with severe disabilities as defined in Clause 2, Article 11 of Decree 28/2012/ND-CP dated April 10, 2012, of the Government of Vietnam detailing and guiding the implementation of certain articles of the Law on Persons with Disabilities.

In the case where a person falls under both the preferential cultural enjoyment policy and is either an older person or a person with severe disabilities, only a 50% reduction in the entrance fee will be applied.

No later than the 5th day of each month, the fee-collecting organization must remit the collected fees of the previous month into the fee account pending submission to the state budget at the State Treasury.

The fee-collecting organization is allowed to retain 90% of the total collected fees to cover costs as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 5 of Decree 120/2016/ND-CP dated August 23, 2016, of the Government of Vietnam, detailing and guiding the implementation of certain articles of the Law on Fees and Charges; 10% of the collected fees must be remitted to the state budget based on the corresponding chapters, categories, and sub-categories of the State Budget Index.

The above Circulars come into effect from January 1, 2017.
