Required Knowledge for the Saltwater and Brackish Water Aquaculture Industry at College Level

On February 10, 2019, Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH of BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and the competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fishery, and veterinary will take effect.

According to the Regulation on the minimum volume of knowledge, competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and associate levels in saltwater and brackish water aquaculture industries, issued together with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum knowledge required after graduating at the associate level in saltwater and brackish water aquaculture is as follows:

- To demonstrate knowledge of methods for planning production and business for breeding farms, aquaculture areas, and aquatic goods and services stores;

- To demonstrate knowledge of general legal regulations related to the management of saltwater and brackish water aquaculture;

- To analyze the usage, principles of operation, maintenance, repair, and sanitation of machinery, equipment, and tools used in breeding farms and aquaculture of saltwater and brackish water species;

- To demonstrate knowledge of processes for improving and preparing the nursery and commercial farming systems for saltwater and brackish water species;

- To analyze the biological and reproductive characteristics of saltwater and brackish water species from the hatching stage to commercial farming and broodstock rearing and breeding stages;

- To demonstrate knowledge of breeding, reproductive, nursery, and commercial farming processes for saltwater and brackish water species;

- To analyze the impact and management methods of hydro-physical and hydro-chemical factors during broodstock rearing, nursery, and commercial farming of saltwater and brackish water species;

- To demonstrate the processes of producing and controlling the quality of industrial feed for saltwater and brackish water species in aquafeed processing plants;

- To demonstrate methods of feeding and managing feed during broodstock rearing, nursery, and commercial farming of saltwater and brackish water species;

- To demonstrate methods of breeding and harvesting live feed used in breeding farms;

- To demonstrate principles of occupational safety and fire prevention and control at the workplace;

- To demonstrate methods of first aid for victims of occupational accidents;

- To comply with and respect environmental protection regulations, and to process waste and wastewater before discharging it into the surrounding environment;

- To develop habits of maintaining workplace hygiene during and after work completion;

- To demonstrate basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, physical education, and informatics as required.
