What is the required license for automobile driver in Vietnam? What is the training time of the driver training program in Vietnam? _Hai Dang (Ha Nam)

1. What is the required license for automobile driver in Vietnam?

According to Clause 7, Article 16, Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT stipulates the classification of driving licenses as follows:

“7. B2 class licenses issued to persons who practice as a driver for controlling following types of cars:

a) Special cars with design loading capacity less than 3.500 kg;

b) Cars intended for B1 class.”

According to the above regulations, automobile drivers need to have a B2 license.

Thus, B2 license holders can take the following vehicles:

- Special cars with design loading capacity less than 3.500 kg

- 9-seat cars including driver seat;

- Trucks, including special trucks with design loading capacity less than 3.500 kg;

- Tractors hauling a trailer with design loading capacity less than 3,500 kg.

2. What is the training time of the driver training program in Vietnam?

According to the provisions of Point b, Clause 1, Article 13 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT, training time of the B2 class driver training program in Vietnam: 588 hours

- Theory: 168

- Practice: 420;

Thus, the total training time of the driver training program including theory and practice is 588 hours.

What are the regulations on driver training program in Vietnam?

According to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 13 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT as amended by Clause 7, Article 1 of Circular 04/2022/TT-BGTVT, the B2 class driver training is as follows:
