What are the regulations on fire prevention and fighting equipment in Vietnam?
According to Article 37 of Decree 136/2020/ND-CP on fire prevention and fighting equipment as follows:
Article 37. Fire prevention and fighting equipment
1. Fire prevention and fighting equipment includes motor equipment, equipment, machines, tools, chemicals and support tools used for fire prevention and fighting as well as human and property rescue and mentioned in Appendix VI enclosed therewith.
2. Motor firefighting equipment of firefighting authorities are mentioned in Section 1 of Appendix VI enclosed therewith.
3. Requirements for domestically manufactured or imported fire prevention and fighting equipment:
a) They must meet technical specifications laid down for fire prevention and fighting purposes;
b) They are compliant with Vietnamese regulations and standards or foreign or international standards applicable in Vietnam.
Which facilities must install Automatic Fire Suppression System in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Vietnam Standard TCVN 3890:200 on fire prevention and fighting equipment for buildings and works, equipment, arrangement, inspection and maintenance are mentioned as follows:
7. Equipment, placement, checking and maintenance of automatic firefighting system
7.1. Equipment and placement of automatic firefighting system
7.1.1. The automatic firefighting system must be equipped for buildings and works specified in Annex C. The equipment of automatic firefighting system for other buildings and works based on the analysis of danger level of fire and factors relating to the protection of people and property.
In the buildings and works specified in Annex C, there should be an automatic firefighting system for all rooms not depending on area excluding the following areas:
- Wet areas (bathrooms, toilets, refrigerating chamber, washing area ...);
- Staircase;
- Areas without any danger of fire.

What is the fine for cases without Automatic Fire Suppression System in Vietnam?
According to Clause 5, Article 41 of Decree 144/2021/ND-CP, the fine for cases without Automatic Fire Suppression System is:
Article 44. Violations against regulations on provision, storage and use of fire safety and firefighting equipment
...
5. A fine ranging from 15.000.000 VND to 25.000.000 VND shall be imposed for any of the following violations:
a) Failure to install the fire alarm and firefighting system as prescribed by law;
b) Failure to have firefighting apparatus as prescribed by law.
..."
The above fine is applied to an individual's administrative violation. For organizations with the same violations, the fine is twice the fine for individuals.
