"Article 37. Renewal of driving license
4. If year of birth, full name, or middle name specified in the driving license shows deviation from the people’s identity card or citizen’s identity card, the license management agency shall carry out procedures on renewal of driving license in accordance with information specified in the people’s identity card/citizen’s identity card."
Accordingly, if the year of birth, full name, or middle name specified in the driving license shows deviation from the people’s identity card or citizen’s identity card, the license management agency shall carry out procedures on renewal of driving license in accordance with information specified in the people’s identity card/citizen’s identity card.
Thus, in case you have the wrong date of birth information on your driving license, you can have your driving license renewed according to regulations.

What is the procedure for the renewal of driving license in Vietnam?
According to the provisions of Clause 8 Article 37 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT, as amended by point a, Clause 6, Article 2 of Circular 01/2021/TT-BGTVT as follows:
"8. Procedure for renewal of driving license:
a) The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam or the Department of Transport of Vietnam shall appraise the dossier upon receipt; In case the dossier is not in accordance with regulations, it must notify directly or in writing or through the online public service system the contents that need to be supplemented or amended to the individual within 2 working days from the date of receipt of application;
b) The individual submitting the application directly is responsible for fulfilling the obligation to pay the fee for renewal driver license when receiving the dossier as prescribed; when submitting the application through the online public service system, they must fulfill the obligation to pay the driver license fee through the payment function of the online public service system according to regulations and pay the fee for using other services according to individual needs;
c) Within 05 working days from the day on which the complete and correct application is received, the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam or the Department of Transport shall renew the driving license; in case the driving license is not renewd, a reply must be given clearly stating the reason;
d) When renewing a driving license, the driving license-issuing agency shall keep a file on the renew of a driving license (the original for the renew of a driving license by the Transport sector; a copy for the renew of a driving license, renew of driving license issued by the Public Security branch, renew of a military driving license issued by the Ministry of National Defense) within 2 years from the date of issuance of the driving license; cut corners of the old driving license (except for the driving license issued by a foreign country), hand it over to the driver for preservation (except for online application).
The order to renew the driving license shall comply with the above regulations.

"Article 38. Procedures for renewal of the driving license issued by the Transport sector
1. Dossier for renew of driving license issued by the Department of Transport, including:
a) An application form for renew of driving license, made according to the form specified in Appendix 19 issued with this Circular;
b) The driver's medical examination certificate issued by a competent medical facility as prescribed, except for the following subjects:
Holders of A1, A2, A3 class driving licenses;
Persons who wish to separate the driving license with a term and with an indefinite term;
c) A copy of the driving license, identity card or citizen identification card or valid passport with the number of the people's identity card or citizen identification card (for Vietnamese) or passport remaining expiry date (for foreigners, overseas Vietnamese)."
Thus, the dossier to renew the driving license issued by the Transport sector includes:
- Application for renewal of driving license.
- Health certificate of the driver.
- Copy of driving license, identity card/citizen identity card or valid passport of the driver.
