Ground Commando: 113 Brigade stationed in Vinh Phuc.

How many types of the People's Army of Vietnam Special Forces Arms are there?

Because the process of selecting and training Special Forces is extremely complicated, and to ensure the implementation of different combat tasks in the new situation, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army has classified into many different Special Forces forces to have special training procedures with specific tasks.

Accordingly, there are 03 types of the People's Army of Vietnam Special Forces Arms as follows:

- Ground Forces:

The training of Vietnamese commandos consists of 2 categories: school training and combat training. Training at the school is directly undertaken by commando officers.

Currently, Vietnam has 2 main commando training schools: the Army Commando Officer School and the Naval Commando School. The number of students per school is more than 200. The duration of training is from 3 to 6 months.

After finishing training and returning to the unit, the recruits must undergo more than 200 days of combat training. The training content includes gunnery, mine-planting, hand-to-hand combat, camouflage, bombardment and many other combat exercises.

After finishing the basic combat training, based on each unit and mission, the recruits will undergo group combat training, including gunnery, overcoming and breaking obstacles, martial arts, swimming, driving, parachuting, reconnaissance, assassination, etc kidnapping, political education...

- Water Forces:

Water commandos are elite special forces, trained to attack enemy water targets such as harbors, ships,... and targets that can only be penetrated through waterways: isolated bases, and naval bases... If the commando has a special fighting style, the water commando is even more special, because fighting underwater is much more difficult than on land, and the equipment is also more different. Water commandos (also known as sea commandos) were created due to the French requirement to hit naval objects and river targets, thus appearing almost parallel to land commandos.

- Water commandos currently include the 5th Commando Brigade under the Commando Corps, the Vietnam People's Army, the 126th Naval Commando Brigade, the Naval Service, the Vietnam People's Army and some units of military regions and corps.

- Ranger Forces:

Due to the nature of the long-term resistance and by the motto and mode of combat operations in the city, besides the urban armed forces such as City Self-Defense, Volunteer Youth, National Self-Defense, Volunteer Trade Union... Specialized military organizations were born one after another. This force is slightly different from ordinary ground commandos, although there are many similarities in the organization. The rangers operated almost exclusively during the day and retreated at night.

The current Ranger Forces consists of the 1 Ranger Brigade, formerly stationed in Gia Lam.
