To celebrate the "Honoring Vietnamese Language Day" as per Decision 930/QD-TTg in 2022, the Vietnamese Scholar contest has decided to open the Vietnamese Scholar Competition for the academic year 2023-2024.

What are the regulations for each round of the Vietnamese Scholar Competition in 2024?

On the website of the Vietnamese Scholar contest, the regulations for each round of the Vietnamese Scholar Competition in 2024 are as follows:

(1) Open Round and Qualifying Round:

- Students from grade 1 to grade 5 are eligible to participate if they have a valid account and are members of the website www.trangnguyen.edu.vn.

- Test duration: 30 minutes.

- Maximum test score: 300 points.

- Number of attempts: Students can take the test multiple times until they achieve 200 points or higher, which is considered as completing the round.

- Opening time for each round: Detailed schedule is published on the website www.trangnguyen.edu.vn.

- Venue: Students can take the test at home or at school, and must do it on a computer with internet access.

- Awards consideration: No awards are given for the Open Round and Qualifying Round.

(2) Preliminary Round:

- Students from grade 1 to grade 5 can participate in the Preliminary Round if they scored 200 points or more in Round 4.

- Test duration: 30 minutes.

- Maximum test score: 300 points.

- Number of attempts: Students can take the test only once (except in cases of force majeure, in which the Supervisor will make a record for the student to retake the test).

- Preliminary Round – Round 5 is expected to be held from December 18, 2023 to December 23, 2023.

- Exam time: from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

- Venue: At a centralized computer room with internet access.

- Awards consideration: Schools proactively award and issue Certificates (if any) based on general rules:

+ First Prize: 290 – 300 points

+ Second Prize: 270 – 280 points

+ Third Prize: 250 – 260 points

+ Consolation Prize: 220 – 240 points

(3) Regional Competition:

- Students from grade 1 to grade 5 eligible for the Regional Competition are those who scored 220 points or more in Round 5. The Organizing Committee will rank from highest to lowest scores and select no more than 50% of the participants from each grade/each school.

- Test duration: 30 minutes.

- Maximum test score: 300 points.

- Number of attempts: Students can take the test only once (except in cases of force majeure, in which the Supervisor will make a record for the student to retake the test).

- Expected date for Round 6 organization: From January 24, 2024 to January 27, 2024.

(4) National Competition

- Students from grade 1 to grade 5 eligible for the National Competition are those who scored 220 points or more in Round 6. The Organizing Committee will rank from highest to lowest scores and select no more than 30% of the participants from each grade/each región. Depending on the facility condition and venue, local Cross-Supervision Councils may select the appropriate number of students and grades to ensure local organizational conditions.

- Test duration: 30 minutes.

- Maximum test score: 300 points.

- Number of attempts: Students can take the test only once (except in cases of force majeure, in which the Supervisor will make a record for the student to retake the test).

- Expected date for organization: From March 13, 2024 to March 15, 2024.

Final Competition

- Students selected for the Fianl Competition are from grades 4 and 5. Students are chosen by the Organizing Committee based on their scores in the Natinal Competition, from highest to lowest, with the specific number as follows:

+ Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Hoa Binh, Ho Chi Minh, Lao Cai, Nghe An, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, select up to 15 students/each Province/City.

+ Bac Kan, Bac Lieu, Binh Thuan, Ca Mau, Cao Bang, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Ha Giang, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hue, Hung Yen, Kien Giang, Lam Dong, Nam Dinh, Ninh Thuan, Phu Yen, Quang Binh, Son La, Thai Binh, Yen Bai, Vinh Phuc, select up to 10 students/each Province/City.

+ Other provinces: Select up to 05 students/each Province.

+ Localities with less than 100 students participating in the Regional Competition, the Organizing Committee will not select students for the National Competition.

- Test duration: 30 minutes for the online test and 20 minutes for the written essay.

- Maximum test score: 300 points for the online test and 30 points for the essay.

- Number of attempts: Students can take the test only once (except in cases of force majeure, in which the Supervisor will make a record for the student to retake the test).

- Expected date for organization: From April 20, 2024 to April 21, 2024.

- Participation venue: The Organizing Committee will inform in the invitation letter for the National Competition.

- Awards for the National Competition: The Organizing Committee will calculate the total score of both tests, including the online test and the essay, to rank the awards. Each grade will be ranked from highest to lowest total score into the awards: Scholar, Bảng Nhãn, Thám Hoa, Hoàng Giáp, Tiến Sỹ, First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, Consolation Prize.

Format of the competition:

- Online test on a computer connected to the internet.

- Each round will have separate scores and times.
