Vietnam Telephone Code (Vietnam Country Code) is the national identifier and represents the telephone area code of our country. The Vietnam telephone code according to international practice is +84, in which the national domain name is VN, and the ISO symbol is VNM.
By convention, Vietnam phone numbers are written with a "+" sign in front of the country code. From abroad to Vietnam, you must add the country code +84 at the beginning of the phone number. For example, if your phone number is 0989xxxxxx, it will be written as +84989xxxxxx. If calling domestically, you dial 0989xxxxxx, and if calling from abroad, you dial +84989xxxxxx or 00840989xxxxxx.

What does the mobile subscriber information in Vietnam include?
Pursuant to Article 15 of Decree 25/2011/ND-CP amended by Article 1 of Decree 49/2017/ND-CP, the mobile subscriber information in Vietnam includes:
- Subscriber numbers; user of each subscriber number: for the individual client (subscriber number for the client himself/herself; for his/her biological or adopted child aged under 14; for his/her ward; for equipment); for the organizational client (subscriber numbers for its employees; for equipment);
- Individual’s information as shown in his/her identity paper, including full name; date of birth; nationality; number, date of issue, issuing authority or place of issue of identity paper; place of permanent residence (if client is a Vietnamese citizen);
- Organization's information as shown in documents, including name of organization; head office's address; information in identity paper presented by the person concluding the Contract, and information in identity paper of each employee of the organization in line with the subscriber number used by such employee (if the organization grants power to its employee to use the subscriber number) under provisions in Point b of this Clause;
- Digital representations of documents presented by clients when concluding Contracts;
- Photos of persons who directly conclude Contracts (for mobile telecommunications services); digital representation of certificate of subscriber information or certificate of subscriber information bearing electronic signature (for prepaid telecommunications services);
- Billing method (prepaid or postpaid);
- Full name of advisor; time of concluding Contract; time of updating subscriber information (if subscriber information is updated by the client); the POS’s address and telephone number.
What are the prohibited acts for mobile subscribers when using telecommunications services in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 15 of Decree 25/2011/ND-CP amended by Article 1 of Decree 49/2017/ND-CP, prohibited acts for mobile subscribers when using telecommunications services in Vietnam include:
- Forging or using identity paper or certificate of the legal entity of another entity to conclude a Contract with a telecommunications enterprise.
- Pre-inputting subscriber information; activating prepaid mobile services for SIM cards when the conclusion of the Contract is not yet completed as regulated;
- Trading or selling SIM cards of which subscriber information has been already input or prepaid mobile services have been activated;
- Revealing or using mobile subscriber information in contravention of law;
- Using universal SIM cards or device with a function to activate SIM cards without taking the SIM card out to input subscriber information, or to activate prepaid mobile services for SIM cards.
