How is grade 6 enrollment for foreign language enhancement implemented?
(a) English
- In Thu Duc city and districts: based on Appendix 1 (attached) on the conditions for receiving students in grade 6 to strengthen foreign languages in Thu Duc city, districts.
- At Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted:
+ Eligible candidates are students who have completed the primary school program with year-end periodical test scores in each subject of Vietnamese and Mathematics with scores of 9 or higher in the 5th grade. In addition, students must take the exam to test and assess the capacity (duration 90 minutes).
+ Expected exam date: June 25, 2022.
+ If students are not admitted to grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, students will still be considered for admission to grade 6 according to the regulations of the Admissions Steering Committee of Thu Duc city and districts.
(b) French:
5th graders who have completed primary school and have annual test scores in each subject of Vietnamese and Math at least 8 points in the 5th grade year and have average scores in French and a diploma. French language scores of 6 or higher are transferred directly into the 6th grade French intensive and in French (route A). Students with an average score of less than 6 points can enroll in a French intensive program or can take an existing foreign language program.
(c) Chinese:
Eligible candidates are students who have completed the elementary school program and have been recognized as meeting the elementary level requirements of the program.
(d) Japanese (Foreign Language 1):
Grade 6 Japanese (Foreign Language 1) was held at Le Quy Don Middle School, District 3; Hai Ba Trung Middle School, District 3 and Vo Truong Toan Middle School, District 1.
(d) German:
Grade 6 German (Foreign Language 2) was held at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Le Quy Don Middle School, District 3 and Vo Truong Toan Middle School, District 1.
(e) For the types of foreign language intensive classes in secondary school, every year, the Admission Council is responsible for considering removing students who are not able to keep up with the program and organize an additional enrollment survey.

For students who finish grade 5 and do not study intensive English programs in primary schools, which international certificates are required?
For students who finish grade 5 and do not attend the primary school intensive English program, one of the following international certificates is required:
- FLYERS: 10 or more shields.
- TOEFL Primary: at least 3 badges of TOEFL Primary step 2 test.
- Pearson PTE Breakthrough scores 45 or more.
- Other international certificates at A2 level or higher.
- Achieve a score of 6.0 or higher in the entrance test and assessment for 6th grade students with intensive English of secondary schools (in case the number of students registered for the entrance exceeds their ability of reception of the secondary school).
For students who finish grade 5 of the primary school English intensive program, what one of the conditions do they need to meet?
For students finishing grade 5 of the primary school English intensive program, one of the following conditions must be met:
- Have an average score of English for the whole year (4 skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing) above 6.0.
- FLYERS: over 10 shields.
- TOEFL Primary: at least 3 badges of TOEFL Primary step 2 test.
- Pearson PTE Breakthrough scores 45 or more.
- Other international certificates at A2 level or higher.
- Achieve a score of 6.0 or higher in the entrance exam for 6th graders with intensive English of secondary schools.
Note: the above certificates and entrance exams are not required, only used in case the number of students applying for entrance exceeds the capacity of the secondary school.
For students who finish grade 5 of the Primary Integrated English program, what one of the conditions do they need to meet?
For students who finish grade 5, the Primary Integrated English program must meet one of the following conditions:
- GPA of five integrated English subjects of 6.0 or higher.
- Have a Pearson PTE Breakthrough certificate with a score of 45 or higher.
- Achieve a score of 6.0 or higher in the entrance exam and assessment for students in the integrated English class of secondary schools.
Note: the above certificate and the entrance exam and assessment are not required, only used in case the number of students applying for entrance exceeds the capacity of the secondary school.
