What are the conditions for issuing an electronic visa at the request of foreigners in Vietnam?

Pursuant to subsection 4, Section A, Part II, Administrative procedures promulgated together with Decision 6968/QD-BCA in 2022 stipulating the requirements and conditions as follows:

- Foreigners who have passports and are suspended from entry specified in Article 21 of the 2014 Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.

Referring to Article 21 of the 2014 Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam on the cases of suspension from entry as follows:

- Any of the conditions in Clause 1, Article 20 of this Law.

- Children under 14 years of age without parents, guardians or authorized custodians.

- Forging papers or providing false information to obtain entry/exit/residence permit.

- Any person suffering from a mental disease or infectious disease that threatens the public health.

- Any person that was deported from Vietnam within the last 03 years.

- Any person that was compelled to leave Vietnam within the last 06 months.

- For reasons of epidemic prevention.

- For reasons of natural disasters.

- For reasons of national defense, national security, social order, and social safety.

- Foreigners who are citizens of countries on the list to be granted electronic visas according to the Government's Resolution.

Pursuant to subsection 4, Section A, Part II Administrative procedures promulgated together with Decision 6968/QD-BCA in 2022 guiding the preparation of dossiers of application for electronic visas at the request of foreigners as follows:

- Information about applying for an electronic visa (NA1a) is posted on the electronic visa information page.

- Portrait face photo 4cm x 6cm; photo of passport identity page is uploaded to the electronic visa information page in accordance with regulations.

Apply online through the e-visa portal or the National Public Service Portal or the Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security.

Step 1: Foreigners access the electronic visa information page of the Immigration Portal (with the Vietnamese domain name "https://www.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn", English is "https://www.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn". “https://www.immigration.gov.vn”) or the National Public Service Portal or the Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security to enter information to apply for an electronic visa, download a photo of the face and passport ID page. After performing this step, the foreigner will be issued an electronic file code by the system.

Step 2: Pay the visa fee to the account specified on the electronic visa information page or the National Public Service Portal or the Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security after receiving the electronic file code from the immigration authorities.

Step 3: Receive the result

Foreigners who apply for electronic visas use the electronic file code to check and print the results of electronic visa issuance at the electronic visa information page.
