“Article 52. General provisions for road markings
52.1. Road markings are a form of signaling to guide and control traffic in order to improve safety and traffic ability.
52.2. Road markings can be used independently and can be combined with other types of road signs or traffic signal lights.
52.3. Road markings include lines, letters and drawings on the road surface, on sidewalks, on traffic works and some other parts of the road in order to regulate traffic order and size. limits of traffic works, indicating the prescribed direction of the vehicle lanes.

What are the common types of road markings in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Appendix G issued together with QCVN 41:2019/BGTVT the national standard on road signs stipulates the following types of road markings:
Group of lines dividing the lanes of traffic traveling in the opposite direction
- Line 1.1: Two-way dividing line (road center line), single, dashed line
Meaning of use: used to divide two-way vehicles traveling in opposite directions. Vehicles are allowed to cross to use the opposite lane from both sides.
- Line 1.2: Two-way dividing line (road centerline), single line, solid line
Meaning of use: used to divide two-way vehicles traveling in opposite directions; Vehicles must not cross the lane, must not overlap the line.
- Line 1.3: Two-way dividing line (road center line), double line, solid line

What is the administrative penalty for not complying with road markings in Vietnam?
- For motorbikes
Base and o Point a, Clause 1, Article 6 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP (replaced by the phrase by Point e, Clause 34, Article 2 of Decree 123/2021/ND-CP) stipulates as follows:
“Article 6. Penalties for drivers of motorcycles, mopeds (including electric mopeds), motorcycle-like vehicles and motorcycle-like vehicles who violate road traffic rules
1. A fine of between VND 100,000 and 200,000 shall be imposed on vehicle operators who commit one of the following violations:
a) Failure to comply with orders and instructions of road signs and markings, except for the violations specified at Points c, dd, e and h, Clause 2; point a, point d, point g, point i, point m Clause 3; point a, point b, point c, point d, point e clause 4; Clause 5; Point b, Clause 6; point a, point b clause 7; Point d Clause 8 of this Article;”

Pursuant to Point a, Clause 1, Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP (replaced for some phrases by Point a, Point I, Clause 34, Article 2 of Decree 123/2021/ND-CP) stipulates as follows: after:
“Article 5. Penalties for drivers of cars and vehicles similar to cars who violate road traffic rules
1. A fine of between VND 300,000 and VND 400,000 shall be imposed on vehicle operators who commit one of the following violations:
a) Failure to comply with of road signs and markings, except for the violations specified at Points a, d, g, h, i and k, Clause 2; point a, point d, point dd, point e, point k, point l, point o, point r, point s Clause 3; point b, point c, point d, point dd, point I clause 4; point a, point c, point d, point dd, point e, point g, point i clause 5; point a, clause 6; point a, point c, point d clause 7; Point a, Clause 8 of this Article;”
