Pursuant to Appendix C, "Use of Danger and Warning Signals," issued together with National Technical Regulation QCVN 41:2019/BGTVT, stipulates as follows:
C.45 Road sign W.245 (a,b) "Go slowly"
To remind drivers to slow down, put the Road sign W.245 (a,b) "Go slowly". The sign is placed in an appropriate position before arriving at the required road to slow down.
For external routes (i.e., roads in the road system participating in international treaties to which Vietnam is a member (GMS-CBTA Agreement, ASEAN agreements, and other international agreements), it is mandatory to use Road sign W.245b.
When should vehicle operators slow down without a slow-moving road sign in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 5 of Circular 31/2019/TT-BGTVT, which stipulates that drivers of vehicles participating in road traffic must slow down to be able to stop safely in the following cases:
There are warning signs of danger or obstacles on the road;
- Change direction of traffic or limited visibility;
- Cross where the road intersects at the same level as the railway; circle; roads with winding terrain, steep passes; the road section has a narrow road surface that is not smooth;
- Cross narrow bridges and culverts; going through spillways, underground tunnels, and underpasses; going up near the top of the slope; going downhill;
- Cross areas with schools, hospitals, bus stations, and public works with many people, densely populated areas, factories, and offices are concentrated on the roadside; the area under construction on the road; the scene of a traffic accident;
- When there are pedestrians or wheelchairs of people with disabilities crossing the street;
- When there are animals walking on the road or grazing near the road.
- Avoid vehicles traveling in the opposite direction or when allowing vehicles behind to pass; when there is a signal to ask for a way or an emergency signal of the vehicle going ahead;
- Approach the bus stop, the parking stop, with passengers getting on and off;
- Meet priority vehicles on duty; meet the super car, the super heavy vehicle, and the dangerous cargo truck; meet the group of pedestrians;
- When there are rains; there is fog, smoke, and dust; the road surface is slippery and muddy, with lots of soil and rocks, and scattered materials;
- When driving a vehicle through the area of a vehicle load control station, a traffic police station, or a payment transaction station for vehicles using the road,
