What Will Be the Projected Regional Minimum Wage for Region III After the Minimum Wage Increase Effective from July 1, 2024?
What will the regional minimum wage (proposed) for Region III be after the regional minimum wage increase from July 1, 2024?
On the afternoon of December 20, the National Wage Council conducted a vote and finalized the plan to increase the regional minimum wage by 6% starting from July 1, 2024.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and Vice President of the National Wage Council, assessed: A 6% increase is appropriate in the context of workers sharing the difficulties of businesses.
If the proposal is approved, the minimum wage is expected to increase as follows:
- Region I will increase from 4.68 million VND/month to approximately 4.96 million VND/month (an increase of 280,000 VND);
- Region II will increase from 4.16 million VND/month to approximately 4.41 million VND/month (an increase of 250,000 VND);
- Region III will increase from 3.64 million VND/month to approximately 3.86 million VND/month (an increase of 220,000 VND);
- Region IV will increase from 3.25 million VND/month to approximately 3.45 million VND/month (an increase of 200,000 VND).
For the hourly regional minimum wage, the National Wage Council also agreed on a plan to increase by 6% from July 1, 2024, as follows:
Region I will increase from 22.5 thousand VND/hour to approximately 23,800 VND/hour;
Region II will increase from 20,000 VND/hour to approximately 21,000 VND/hour;
Region III will increase from 17,500 VND/hour to approximately 18,600 VND/hour;
Region IV will increase from 15,600 VND/hour to approximately 16,600 VND/hour.
As such, according to the proposal agreed upon by the National Wage Council, the hourly regional minimum wage will increase by 6% from July 1, 2024.

Which localities are currently included in Region III for the regional minimum wage?
Based on the provisions in the List of localities applying the minimum wage from July 1, 2022 in the Appendix issued with Decree 38/2022/ND-CP, Region III includes the following localities:
- Other provincial cities (excluding the provincial cities mentioned in Region I, Region II);
- Kinh Mon Town and the districts of Cam Giang, Nam Sach, Kim Thanh, Gia Loc, Binh Giang, Tu Ky in Hai Duong Province;
- The districts of Vinh Tuong, Tam Dao, Tam Duong, Lap Thach, Song Lo in Vinh Phuc Province;
- Phu Tho Town and the districts of Phu Ninh, Lam Thao, Thanh Ba, Tam Nong in Phu Tho Province;
- The districts of Viet Yen, Yen Dung, Hiep Hoa, Tan Yen, Lang Giang in Bac Giang Province;
- The districts of Van Don, Hai Ha, Dam Ha, Tien Yen in Quang Ninh Province;
- Sa Pa Town and Bao Thang District in Lao Cai Province;
