Vietnam: Which day is celebrated on March 20? What is the significance of March 20?

March 20th is known as International Day of Happiness, with the message of balance and harmony being key to bringing happiness. In June 2012, the United Nations declared March 20th as the International Day of Happiness. To date, 193 member countries, including Vietnam, have committed to supporting and actively working towards building a more inclusive world, improving quality of life, and creating a just and sustainable society that brings happiness to humanity.

The United Nations chose March 20th as the International Day of Happiness because it is a special day when the sun is positioned directly over the equator, resulting in equal length of day and night - a symbol of balance and harmony in the universe. It also represents the balance between yin and yang, light and darkness, dreams and reality.

In Vietnam, the Prime Minister issued Decision 2589/QD-TTg in 2013 approving the Project "Organizing activities on the International Day of Happiness on March 20th annually".

This decision aims to continue implementing the goal of social development, building prosperous and happy Vietnamese families, and raising awareness of the International Day of Happiness among the entire society. It calls for the cooperation and support of organizations and individuals both domestically and internationally in organizing activities for the International Day of Happiness (March 20th).
