Vietnam: What are the regulations on the ventilation and lighting systems in urban road tunnels currently?
What are the regulations on ventilation and lighting systems in urban road tunnels currently in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Section 2.12.6 and Section 2.12.7, Subsection 2.12 Section 2 of Vietnam National Technical Regulation QCVN 07-4:2016/BXD stipulates as follows:
TECHNICAL REGULATIONS
...
2.12. Urban underground traffic works
...
2.12.6. Ventilation system
1) The ventilation system must be arranged in the road tunnel, ensuring that it does not have harmful effects on road users and the visibility of vehicles running in the tunnel.
2) The amount of smoke limiting visibility and emissions must be controlled and meet regulations on the construction of traffic works.
2.12.7. Lighting system
Lighting must be arranged in the road tunnel, ensuring smooth traffic as well as safety requirements for vehicles and people when passing through the tunnel. The lighting system for traffic tunnels must comply with QCVN 07-7:2016/BXD.
...
Accordingly, for the ventilation system, the ventilation system must be arranged in the road tunnel, ensuring that it does not have harmful effects on road users and the visibility of vehicles running in the tunnel.
And the amount of smoke limiting visibility and emissions must be controlled, meeting regulations on the construction of traffic works.
For lighting system: Lighting must be arranged in the road tunnel, ensuring smooth traffic as well as safety requirements for vehicles and people when passing through the tunnel. The lighting system for traffic tunnels must comply with Vietnam National Technical Regulation QCVN 07-7:2016/BXD.
What requirements must the auxiliary works system in urban road tunnels meet in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Section 2.12.4, Subsection 2.12, Section 2 of Vietnam National Technical Regulation QCVN 07-4:2016/BXD stipulates as follows:
TECHNICAL REGULATIONS
...
2.12. Urban underground traffic works
...
2.12.4. Requirements for auxiliary works systems in road tunnels
1) Escape tunnel system
- For urban road tunnels with a length greater than or equal to 500 m, emergency tunnels must be built;
- In case the construction of 2 tunnels on the line does not require the construction of a separate escape tunnel and the use of one tunnel as an escape function for the other, the horizontal niche connecting from the main tunnel to the emergency tunnel shall be built with a maximum distance of 400 m for people and a maximum of 1 600 m for cars.
2) Emergency car stop in the tunnel
Emergency vehicle stops with a maximum distance of 400 m must be built in each direction.
...
Accordingly, the requirements for auxiliary works systems in road tunnels are as follows:
- Escape tunnel system
+ For urban road tunnels with a length greater than or equal to 500 m, emergency tunnels must be built;
+ In case of building 2 tunnels on the route that do not require the construction of separate emergency tunnels and using one tunnel as an escape function for the other, the horizontal niche connecting from the main tunnel to the emergency tunnel shall be built with a maximum distance of 400 m for people and a maximum of 1 600 m for cars.
- Emergency vehicle stop in the tunnel
Emergency vehicle stops with a maximum distance of 400 m must be built in each direction.
Vietnam: What are the regulations on the ventilation and lighting systems in urban road tunnels currently?
What are the criteria for the construction space to build an urban road tunnel in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Section 2.12.2, Subsection 2.12, Section 2 of Vietnam National Technical Regulation QCVN 07-4:2016/BXD stipulates as follows:
TECHNICAL REGULATIONS
...
2.12. Urban underground traffic works
...
2.12.2. Space for construction of urban road tunnels
1) When designing and constructing road tunnels in urban areas, underground space must be used economically and economically and technically.
2) The space in the tunnel shall be arranged to meet the requirements of the limited gauge of traffic on the road as well as taking into account the need for future expansion, arrangement of auxiliary equipment systems and tunnel operation and maintenance systems.
3) For urban pedestrian tunnels, consideration must be given to the use of space in the tunnel for other combined functions. Must ensure assistance for people with disabilities to access and use according to the provisions of QCVN 10:2014/BXD.
4) For urban road tunnels: the construction of roads, public works such as parks, parking lots and other public works above ground level is permitted, but must not affect the safety and use of adjacent structures.
...
Thus, when designing and constructing road tunnels in urban areas, underground space must be used economically and economically and technically.
- The space in the tunnel is arranged to meet the requirements of the limited gauge of traffic on the road as well as taking into account the need for future expansion, arrangement of auxiliary equipment systems and tunnel operation and maintenance systems.
- For urban pedestrian tunnels, the use of space in the tunnel for other combined functions must be considered. Assistance must be ensured for people with disabilities to access and use according to the provisions of Vietnam National Technical Regulation QCVN 10:2014/BXD.
- For urban road tunnels: allow the construction of roads, public facilities such as parks, parking lots and other public works above ground, but must not affect the safety and use of adjacent structures.
