Educational content:

Compulsory subjects and educational activities: Language Arts; Math; Foreign Language 1; Civic education; History and Geography; Natural Sciences; Technology; Informatics; Physical education; Arts (Music, Fine Arts); Experiential and vocational activities; Local educational content.

Elective subjects: Ethnic minority languages, Foreign languages 2.

Educational time

There will be 1 lesson per day and 45 minutes per lesson, each session must not exceed 5 lessons. Eligible lower secondary schools are encouraged to conduct 2 lessons/day according to the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training.

In the General Education Program issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDĐT, the viewpoints of the new General Education Program in Vietnam are as follows:

The General Education Program is a document expressing the objectives of general education, specifying requirements to be achieved on the quality and capacity of students, educational contents, educational methods, and methods of evaluating educational results, as a basis for managing the quality of general education; at the same time, it is the commitment of the State to ensure the quality of both the system and each general education institution.

- The General Education Program is developed on the basis of the Party and State's views on fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training; inherit and develop the advantages of Vietnam's existing General Education Programs,

At the same time, absorb research achievements in educational sciences and experience in building programs according to the capacity development model of advanced education systems in the world; associated with the development needs of the country, the advances of the times in science - technology and society; in accordance with the human characteristics, Vietnamese culture, traditional values of the nation and common values of humanity as well as UNESCO's general development initiatives and orientations on education; provide equal opportunities for students' rights to protection, care, learning and development, and their right to be heard, respected and participated; laying the foundation for a humane, sustainable and prosperous society.

- The General Education Program ensures the development of learners' qualities and capacities through educational content with basic, practical, and modern knowledge and skills; harmonizes virtue, mind, body, and beauty; focuses on practicing, and applying learned knowledge and skills to solve problems in learning and life; highly integrated into the lower classes, gradually differentiated in the upper classes; Through methods and forms of educational organization that promote the initiative and potential of each student, assessment methods suitable to educational goals and educational methods to achieve that goal.

- The General Education Program ensures close connections between classes and education levels and links with preschool education programs, vocational education programs, and higher education programs.

- The General Education Program is developed in an open direction, namely:

- The General Education Program concretizes the objectives of general education, helps students master general knowledge, know how to effectively apply the knowledge and skills learned in life and self-study throughout life, have an orientation to choose appropriate careers, know how to build and develop harmonious social relationships, have a rich personality, personality and soul life, thereby having a meaningful life and contributing positively to the development of the country and humanity.
