What time is the national high school graduation exam 2023 scheduled in Vietnam to be held?
On January 30, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam released information about the expected organization of the high school graduation exam 2023.
Specifically, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam expects the high school graduation exam in 2023 to take place in the first half of July.
Accordingly, the Ministry is currently planning to strengthen questions and contents related to practical application in some subjects.
But the test will reasonably enhance some contents related to practical application in some subjects to gradually approach the orientation of assessing competencies in accordance with the objectives of developing learners' quality capacity of the General Education Program 2018. In fact, the exam questions in 2021, 2022 have also appeared these contents.

Pursuant to Draft 2 of the Circular amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Regulations on high school graduation exams issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT amended and supplemented by Circular 05/2021/TT-BGDDT guiding important amendments in the high school graduation exam in 2023 as follows:
- First: Deregulate that has been applied continuously for many years to allow contestants to bring audio and video recorders with the function of recording information but cannot listen, view, cannot transmit, receive information, audio signals, live images without other equipment to support them.
- Second: Candidates do not leave the exam area after two-thirds of the essay period, must stay in the waiting room for the rest of the exam. They still have to turn in the test papers and draft paper to the test taker before leaving the room and moving to the waiting room.
Under the old rules, candidates were allowed to leave the exam room when 2/3 of the time to take the essay test was over. This regulation is very easy for candidates to put information about the test out and then post it on social networks, causing confusion or misunderstanding about the confidentiality and management of the test.
- Third: Candidates can register for the exam online, in addition to registering directly at the school where they study in grade 12 as in previous years. This is a very relevant and immediate regulation that is the application of digitalization and digital transformation in the process of applying for university admission, College.
- Fourth: Regulations in each area performing the exam organization stages of the exam board (including printing copies of exam papers, taking exams, vandalizing essays, marking exams, and assessments) must arrange 1 landline phone located in the common office or duty room or a room arranged separately to ensure security, safe.
+ If due to force majeure it is impossible to arrange a landline phone at the test site, the Chairman of the exam board decides to arrange a mobile phone with no recording function, no memory card, disconnected from the internet and sealed when not in use.
+ Only use the listening and calling function of the phone to contact the exam board, the exam steering committee at all levels. All telephone communications must be turned on and listened to publicly.
+ Particularly for test scores, in some necessary cases, 1 computer can be arranged in the test site's duty room and ensure that the computer is only connected to the internet when quickly transferring reports to the exam board.
+ The process of using phones and computers in each area performing the exam stages of the exam board must be logged and witnessed and confirmed by the inspection staff (particularly for the area where the test papers are printed, the officer in charge of supervising the witnessing, confirmation).
- In addition, the draft also provides for the addition of candidates with a priority of 0.25 and 0.5 points over the old statute. Recently, the priority score applied to zone 1 is 0.75 points, area 2 is 0.5 points, area 2 is 0.25 points and area 3 is not counted priority points.
- Besides, the content related to the exam board; copy printing, transporting and handing over exam papers at the exam board; The essay test board and priority scores are specified and more in line with reality.
What subjects does the high school graduation exam 2023 in Vietnam include?
Pursuant to the provisions of Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT on the Regulation on high school graduation exams issued by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam on May 26, 2020.
In Article 3 of the Enforcement Regulations issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, there are regulations on high school graduation exams as follows:
Article 3. Papers
The exam consists of 5 papers, including: 3 independent papers are: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language; 1 paper of natural science (a combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology); 1 paper of social science (a combination of History, Geography, and Civic Education) with respect to students of compulsory education program at high school level or the papers of History and Geography with respect to students of continuing education program at high school level.
Thus, the subjects of high school graduation exam 2023 are determined as follows:
- For candidates taking the Natural Sciences combination exam:
+ Math;
+ Language arts;
+ English;
+ Physics, Chemistry, Biology in 01 combined test.
- For candidates taking the Social Science combination:
+ Math;
+ Language arts;
+ English;
+ History, Geography, Civics.
- For candidates studying the high school continuing education program for the Social Science complex:
+ Math;
+ Language arts;
+ English;
+ History, Geography.
Thus, candidates for the high school graduation exam 2023 will take the test with the above-mentioned subjects. The content of the high school graduation exam will be in the high school program, mainly the 12th grade program.
In particular, math, foreign language, natural sciences and social science tests are taken in the form of objective multiple choice tests (collectively referred to as multiple-choice tests); Language Arts test in the form of an essay (collectively referred to as the essay test).
