What are the sun's characteristics, air temperature, solar radiation of Vietnam's climate?
Pursuant to subsection 2.1 Section 2 of the National Technical Regulation QCVN 02:2022/BXD on data on natural conditions used in construction issued together with Circular 02/2022/TT-BXD showing the characteristics of sunshine, air temperature and solar radiation of Vietnam's climate as follows:
- Sunny: All over the territory, long periods of sunshine. Average number of hours of sunshine in a year: The North is less than 2 000 h, the South is greater than 2 000 h.
- Air temperature: The North has a common average annual temperature below 24 ºC; the South has a common average annual temperature of 24 ºC to 28 ºC.
- Solar radiation: The amount of radiation is abundant. The average annual total radiation in the North is greater than 586 kJ/cm2; in the South less than 586 kJ/c m2.

What are the humidity characteristics of the air and the weather seasons of Vietnam's climate?
Pursuant to subsection 2.1 Section 2 of the National Technical Regulation QCVN 02:2022/BXD on data on natural conditions used in construction issued together with Circular 02/2022/TT-BXD showing the humidity characteristics of the air and weather seasons of Vietnam's climate as follows:
Throughout the territory, the relative humidity of the air all year round is high: from 76 % to 88 %. In some places, during certain periods of time there may be a large change in air humidity due to the influence of certain special weather phenomena.
- Drizzle, cold and humid period: In the North, in the winter monsoon period (Northeast monsoon) there is often wet drizzle, the relative humidity of the air is high, sometimes saturated. However, there are some times when the northeast monsoon is accompanied by dry weather with low humidity occurring over a few days to weeks.
- Humid weather: In the eastern northern and central coastal regions, in late winter, early spring (from February to April) there is usually humid weather, the air has a temperature of 20 ºC to 25 ºC and a very large relative humidity, over 95 %, at times saturated.
- Hot dry weather: In the low-lying areas east of the Annamite Mountains and the northwest valleys in the summer, there are hot dry winds blowing in the west, northwest, and southwest directions with an operating period of 10 days to 30 days of the year.
What are the characteristics of the Northwest construction climate zone in Vietnam?
Pursuant to subsection 2.1 Section 2 of the National Technical Regulation QCVN 02:2022/BXD on data on natural conditions used in construction issued together with Circular 02/2022/TT-BXD, the northwest construction climate zone has the following characteristics:
It is separated by the Hoang Lien Son mountain range with the boundary line located on the eastern slope along the thermal balance index isometric line CCN1,I = -350 cal/min (referred to as the isometric line CCN1,I). This mountain range is also the boundary dividing the influence of "dry and cold" weather and "humid" weather of the spring period between the 2 mountainous regions of the North.
Due to the different influence of these 2 phenomena, there has been a difference in the level of heat and cold for a long period of the first half of the year. These are certain impact factors on architectural solutions.
However, due to the relatively large average altitude, the basic climatic feature of this region is still a region with cold winters with anti-cold solutions dominating. This is a region that exists simultaneously in all 3 climate belts by altitude.
The climate of the Northwest Mountains is limited to the south by the mountains of the western part of Hoa Binh Province, due to the direct impact of extreme air after crossing the Tonkin Plain over most of Hoa Binh province, which has brought here the basic characteristics of the climate of the eastern region and the Northern Plains with the existence of the "humid" season and low temperature in winter.
What are the characteristics of the built-up climate zone in the Central Highlands of Vietnam?
Pursuant to subsection 2.1 Section 2 of the National Technical Regulation QCVN 02:2022/BXD on data on natural conditions used in construction issued together with Circular 02/2022/TT-BXD, the construction climate zone in the Central Highlands has the following characteristics:
Separated by the isometric line ∆CCNyear = 700 cal/min, CCN1,I = 0. Extreme winter air but still cold winters over many areas (CCNI < 0 cal/min, CCN1,I < 0 cal/min) due to the influence of terrain elevation.
On the Central Highlands there is no significant difference in the level of cold in winter but the difference between the cold season and the hot season is very little, i.e. there is only one annual heat season. As a mountainous area, the Central Highlands also exists all 3 climate belts with wide plateaus with a fairly homogeneous climate according to the characteristics of the corresponding high belts.
Due to the western slope, the Central Highlands does not have the influence of "Lao winds" causing hot and dry weather.
